This is why rural broadband failed. It's why California's high speed railroad from nowhere to nowhere wasted billions and accomplished nothing and they want billions more! And it's why billions of dollars spent on EV charging stations produced 7 or 8 ( I forget the number but they cost over $1 billion apiece). And I suspect it explains many other similar failures over the past several decades.
It is also a major reason why we are $36 trillion in debt.
I genuinely believe much of this insane bureaucratic inefficiency is by design to cover up massive fraud and much of those billions of our money wasted on all these idiotic projects ended up in the Swiss bank accounts of corrupt politicians & bureaucrats. It doesn't matter if any of these ideas actually make some sense on the surface: the government cannot be trusted to do anything competently these days.
