Among other things, the whole postpartum depression excuse is a very dangerous slippery slope, because if that makes a perp that committed and even confessed to premeditated murder unaccountable (other than perhaps being committed to a mental institution) then why don't other forms of depression qualify as "excuses" as well? If someone is up to their eyeballs in debt and they lose their job, plus their spouse leaves them - does that make offing their kid(s) acceptable?
