Why was a Texas Senate candidate raising money in NYC?

Seems odd.

Remember when they told us the videos of Biden as a vegetable were deep fakes? I wonder where are those conspiracy theorists.

Paxton?

So Talerico had to go to New York to raise money because Ken Paxton made him? Or because so many people were out of step with Talerico's extremism only New York will give him money?

Simply an observation. Then again, you spew bitter noise just for a 'hello' from some folks, so by now it's just you being you.

Don't pick on a guy selling stale taquitos during his midnight shift at Casey's. However, notice the the radical leftists cannot answer why a candidate for senator from Texas is raising money in New York.

Kushner, Trump boys, Lutnick boys raising blood money all over the middle east and you are worried about a few bucks from NY. You a funny little fella. Viva la Stephen Miller aka Nazi.

Best I can tell, he went to New York to raise democrat backers funds for the final media blitz. I'm not sure how this is different from Trump throwing $10 million into Paxton's campaign on September 5. Seems like party helping party candidate to me. If Talarico is wrong for this, wouldn't Trump/Paxton be wrong as well since that money came from outside of Texas? Republicans did it first this time.

Watching Paxton vs Talarico is like watching UT/A&M. Somebody has to win, but the result is going to be cringeworthy no matter who does.

Amen! I think it is really interesting that tough guy, meat eating Paxton is scared to death meet Talerico on the debate stage. I must ask all of you nose-holding Republicans why this is acceptable?

The excuses should be hilarious.
Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!

It is what it is. Texas is much worse off with Talarico as Senator, but that doesn't make Senator Paxton a happy ending.

Wrong. Either someone will be elected that will support common sense conservative policies, or someone will get elected that will support every insane woke policy under the sun including policies that are clearly detrimental to the state of Texas. It really is that simple.

No debate is not 'excuses' but strategy.

1. Historically, the candidate trailing is the one to demand debates, which suggests Talarico is not doing as well as media has been saying.

2. It's been clear for a while that Talarico is out of money for new ads, while Paxton has plenty of $$ for the final push. The debates would be free publicity for Talarico, so obviously it's not in Paxton's interest to debate.

But pretty much all I have heard this campaign is personal attacks, so it's no shock the Talarico fans would continue in the same theme.

There is no doubt this race is razor thin. Most polls have Talarico ahead and the ones that don't are mostly within the margin of error. I think Paxton is foolish to not debate. Bottom line is Paxton is just not very likeable. I think his handlers realize this.

The real problem of late with debates with candidates is who moderates.
There should be a debate for every statewide race with curated policy questions that each party candidate must answer without any interruptions from other candidates, and the candidate can't mention the other candidates or parties. They must answer the question simply on their own policy choices.
Dry format, but much fairer and more informative.
Who curates the questions?
Each party can provide questions with the parties splitting 12-15 total questions and the parties getting no fewer than 3 questions each. (ie. 4 parties get to pose three questions each.) All questions must be answered by each candidate in 2 minutes or less.

Stupid questions would expose an unserious party.
All questions would show what is most important to each party. Duplicate questions could be worked out beforehand and noted.

And neither major party would agree to this as this would really cut into their monopoly.

That was on September 29th. Didn't make another appearance until October 9th, and then had a number of inconsistent stories on why he was gone from the campaign trail for what is an eternity for any candidate right before an election.

You're misrepresenting my post. That post was in direct response to someone questioning why Talarico was in New York.

When it comes to his disappearance:
Sept 30: He appeared virtually in a hotel room saying he had just been diagnosed with a severe case of the flu in Dallas. October 9 he appeared at ACL. That's eight days he was not seen (Oct 1-8). That's right in the time frame of flu recovery time. He has only told one story: I had the flu. It's the republicans that tried to make a number of stories stick in an attempt to make him look bad.

1. He was at a mental health facility. They even manipulated flight records to place him in Ohio. The facility has publicly said they have no records of him. Talarico claims he has never been to Ohio.
2. Ken Paxton told reporters he was "hiding." Democrats argue the implication was Talarico was ducking a debate.
3. Ted Cruz posted a picture of Talarico on a milk carton.
4. Donald Trump told a campaign rally Talarico was a vegan who secretly ate meat (because Texans love meat) and it made him sick.
5. Self inflicted wound here: someone in his campaign posted a video from a February rally on October 3 which really wasn't helpful in light of what the republicans were doing.

So I count four different republican versions of what happened, a misstep by a campaigner, but only one story from Talarico himself. Cruz and Trump had funny reactions though.

Except the normal time frame is 5-7 days. The strangest part was that he completely disappeared - not a post, not a picture ... things that are normal even when sick (like he did last time he was sick campaigning. It's not a big deal but odd to lie about it.

The flu can take up to two weeks to recover from. It varies from person to person. Because the physical stress of influenza raises cortisol and adrenaline which increase insulin resistance and blood sugar levels the illness itself and blood sugar recovery can sometimes take slightly longer or require closer monitoring than in someone without diabetes (WebMD).

It's interesting you are worried about an extra day of your 5-7 day range, but I saw not one post from you about McConnell's 92 day absence from the US Senate this summer. The first picture McConnell posted was clearly an AI adjustment of a pool picture he took with his wife years ago.

And I am still failing to see the lie. I had the flu. So it took him eight days to recover instead of 5-7. 8 is still right in the middle of the one to two week range all doctors give when you get the flu.

For MeMaw maybe. Not for a man running for the Senate. At a minimum if he had the flu, he could have posted to social media during his vacation away from sanity.

How Ken Paxton and allies fanned a false conspiracy to convince voters James Talarico was mentally unfit
While James Talarico was recovering from the flu, Paxton supporters said the Democrat was being treated for mental illness in Ohio. The debunked story was shared by White House officials

You do you brother. Narrative > facts.

I live in Texas. I am not concerned about senators from Kentucky. I am concerned about a candidate that disappears for 10 days and claims to have the flu that prevented him from posting on social media or taking a picture ... seems like he make a magical, 180-degree recovery to go party with Kacey Musgraves.

I get it though - you're going to filter it all through the tribal lens.
