Reading McWhorter always reminds me of the Faye Dunaway's "my mother, my daughter" scene in the movie, Chinatown.
Having done much of his academic work on the coasts, it makes sense that he would wax equolent on an aspect of race and privilege that is barely acknowledged in flyover country.
