Mo Bamba

The kids get so excited at football games when Mo Bamba comes over the speakers. Curious, I looked it up. At the risk of sounding like a Puritan, that song is filth. I know they'll play a "clean" version, but clean versions only point listeners to the "dirty" version.

So imagine my surprise when Baylor SANCTIONS a sorority for posting a short video of themselves singing along to this garbage!

https://www.wacotrib.com/news/higher_education/baylor-sorority-in-hot-water-after-singalong-video-with-n/article_a6571614-a0e4-579b-ae55-6f2f9fe9562c.html

I am stunned at the hypocrisy. If they are so appalled, if the song doesn't reflect the values of the university why does the university pump it out of the speakers at major sporting events! I am not and never have been a Pi Phi, but I wish they would push back against the university for these sanctions. Cancel the spring social and force them to a cultural awareness reeducation session? This is nuts.

The only silver lining I see is that maybe whoever selects the music for sporting events will stop playing offensive filth like Mo Bamba.

OK, rant over. Flame away.

I thought I had seen it all.

My wife was a Baylor Pi Phi. I showed her the little clip from the chapter meeting and then I showed her the original You Tube video done by Sheck Wes.

She said it looks like the Pi Phis might have changed a little bit since she was there.

How do people even think that's music? That song blows. Rap really sucks these days...and yes, I am the 35 year old yelling at people to get off my lawn!

Being in the line, this is unbelievable that Baylor would sanction someone for this song. I agree with Baylor it is trashy and should not be put on blast anywhere on campus. But, it has always bugged me we played this song when it OBVIOUSLY is about Mo Bamba getting the ladies. Exactly the kind of culture that got Art canned. (not a Briles apologist, I'm stating a fact about the culture Baylor claimed he ran)

The sorority president should go to Livingstone and tell her that Baylor set the precedent for them to play that song. But I guess the hypocrisy still isn't clear to Baylor...

He played Center at Texas last year and was drafted by the Orlando Magic. He's the #2 Center for the Magic.
Baylor is not a bunch of southern Baptists students. There's little difference from big state u other than wealth.

Excuse ****ty behavior if you want, but that's exactly what it is. And those stupid enough to post their poor choices on a public forum deserve nothing more than to have those choices bite them in the ass.

These are not "kids." They're snowflake adults.

Glad you see their music as "a poor choice."

I could not agree with you more. The fact Baylor is sanctioning these girls is hypocritical and ridiculous. I wonder how many members of "black organizations" at Baylor know every word to this stupid song? Surely someone has asked Baylor officials why is it ok to play the song at every football game, but not in a much less public environment?

It was a huge hit for their generation. Bad to punish the girls. They didn't write the song. They didn't sell it or put it on the radio and they didn't didn't go 16 points 16 rebounds in a double OT loss against us.

I'm well aware of that...my question is why is it so "insensitive" when Pi Phi plays the song, but not other organizations etc...?

Posting it on Instagram in your Baylor Pi Phi shirt and panties is completely different..(panties is hyperbole).

I'm 33 and agree with both of you.

I'm by no means a prude or easily offended where coarse language is concerned. But Mo Bamba is mindless **** with negative social value. That it's the hit it is is an indictment on modern humanity.
