The answer to this question might be very interesting. I have searched far and wide and am unable to find the answer. Maybe one of you statisticians/ more computer savvy folks can find it.

For the record, life expectancy in the U.S. just dropped to 77.8 years.

Roughly 30,000 under 50.

Roughly 100,000 from 50-64.

Yes a lot of deaths are from elderly people. But those are pretty considerable deaths from middle aged individuals as well.

35,000 people die in car accidents each year and we consider that to be a pretty big deal.

Over 93,000 opioid deaths/ overdoses in 2020 but the politicians don't seem to think this is a big deal at all.

We rarely discuss deaths in car accidents outside Princess Diana. Compared to Covid chatter, car accidents are on mute. The 42,000 who died in 2020 were all but ignored unless they also had Covid.

Opioid addicts are not blameless in that. And have you been living under a rock? Opioid addiction has been a major news story for at least 5 years. A lot of legislation has been passed regulating opioid prescriptions and the industry since 2016.

I tend to think of car accidents as kind of a big deal. A lot of people have lost someone in a car accident. Maybe it is just Princess Diana for you.

There are also about 18,000 homicides annually. If there were 130,000 homicides annually for individuals under 64, posters like Canon and RD2 would be freaking the hell out and never step foot in a big city again.

I blame opioid addicts the most. My point is that the problem has gotten worse, - not better. I have no idea what the solution is. 93,000 lives just seemed like a big number to me.

It is a big number. It certainly warrants attention though we haven't really found a way to effectively combat addiction in anything. Alcohol, drugs, prescription drugs, etc.

94,000 is a big number though. 130,000 under 64 is bigger. Think it probably warrants attention too. Not the panic it has been given by the left but not complete dismissal either.

Ahh, yes. The virus which no one can control save for improving their own outlook with a vaccine, is like high speed collisions and gang gun play. I don't see how I missed that brilliant comparison before. It's like a vin diagram where all the circles simply meld into one single unbroken ring. My god, but you're a genius.

1. Kids are at no statistical risk of death
2. Everyone else can choose to vaccinate

1. Kids shouldn't get the vaccine.
2. I do think it is silly for adults to avoid the vax but it's your right.
3. I don't even own a mask anymore.
4. I'm much more lax on COVID restrictions than you'd think at this point. I live life completely normally. I will however acknowledge that COVID is dangerous to certain people and one of the worst bugs in terms of contagiousness and long term effects in a century.

I dunno! 344,835 deaths in the 75 years and older group makes me think that number is quite a bit higher. My pull it out of my ass best guess is 76.5 years old. Hopefully a true number cruncher can let us know.

Still a darn shame, though below age 50 deaths are pretty much limited. Seems like social security has caught a break with this terrible illness. Not sure how it has been affected actuarially, but with this many elderly deaths, it has been affected. The life expectancy of an average 69 year old is around age 85, so for the elderly who died it is taking a good number of years from them.

Fun fact. New Orleans, St Louis, Kansas City, Cleveland, Baton Rouge, Memphis, Baltimore and Detroit are much more violent cities in terms of homicides per 100,000. All in the 30-60 person/100,000 range.

Chicago is 24/100,000
Portland is 4/100,000
New York is 3/100,000

How could you think masks are political theatre? You realize people are dying right? Masks are the least invasive, least effort way of making an impact.

And studies show that in day to day life, masks are 50-70% effective in preventing you from getting covid.

In a classroom setting, they are probably not effective at all, unless people are super spread out, which they won't be. But saying mask effectiveness is a superstition is ridiculous. Next time a loved one needs surgery maybe drop that line in.

The statistics are going to show that the average age of COVID deaths in this country is around 75. Again, what difference does that make?

BTW, if you use the midpoint of those age ranges as a proxy and give the last range an upper limit of 100, the answer is 75.64.That has to be pretty close because while the older you get the more vulnerable you are, there is is always a bigger population at the younger end of the scale.

17,178 total deaths of those 44 years old and younger of the 606,390 total deaths. (This data is from the CDC website)

This data clearly demonstrates we should mask elementary aged children for 8 hours a day....and maybe at home too. Be afraid.

You don't really think this, stop spreading misinformation! Nobody needs to be afraid, but we all can simply be careful and thoughtful.

I should have noted my sarcasm for folks like yourself unable to recognize it. I was making fun of you chicken little crowd and your terror campaign.
Leftists can't see sarcasm or understand it. They have no sense of humor - at all.

The answer to the OP is "relatively old."

The question for the OP is "so what?"
Sometimes statistics and data are surprising and eye opening. And sometimes people only see what they want to see.

Very true, if you make it to age 70 your average life expectancy is another 15 to 16 years. That is a lot of life left to live.

If the average age of death for Covid were 89 years, even I would realize it is taking people who are nearing the end.

With the average age of death being about 20 years younger than that though, it is taking a LOT of people that would have had many more years. Nothing good about that, very sad.

You have your answer:

75.64 years old. How is that "surprising or eye opening?" How are people seeing only what they want to see?

The answer is 78.0. The average age of people that die with Covid actually exceeded the new average life expectancy number. Let that sink in. Who cares? I care. This exposes what a what a sham this is. Life is short. Play hard. **** Nike!

This shocking stat is an actual testament to the fact that Americans need to take better care of themselves. Eat less. Exercise more. Red meat and alcohol in moderation. Get an annual physical/ checkup. Avoid stress. Whether that means job/ and or family.
