A few housecleaning notes...
- Baylor has moved on from TJC OL Willie Allen. They like him and would take, but he has been a little wishy-washy. - Hearing rumors of a big official visitor this weekend. This would be one coming from completely off the radar. He's on the defensive side of the ball and will be a big splash name if it actually happens. I apologize that I cannot give a name right now, but when I can, I will definitely pass along.- Baylor has about 11 HS/JUCO targets that they are really focused in on to close out the class. You've seen all of the names except one which is the one in the second part of this update. - Gus Malzahn signing a $49 million extension with Auburn creates a big sigh of relief in regards to Gerry Bohanon. It was never anything that was definite, but it takes a big possibility off the table considering Malzahn recruited Gerry to Auburn and is familiar with him. - Hearing a lot of good things about Cam Jones. Prior to decommitting from UCLA he told Baylor commit Jackson Gleeson that he was going to do it. Read into that how you will, but it's not the only sign pointing towards Baylor that's out there. - Personally, I'm expecting a decision sooner rather than later from Byron Hanspard. I definitely see Baylor in the driver's seat here. - Daevon Robinson isn't set on offense or defense in his recruitment with Baylor. He told me they originally offered as an h-back, but that it's no locked in right now. If this weekend goes well and Baylor has room, I think the Bears get a commitment. - Levon Livingston is still on the table and it should come down to his close to the semester. We have a video coming discussing this.

Rebuilding The Offensive Line
Finding talent, depth, and continuity for the most important position group on the field is key to Baylor's success in the 2018 season.

20 Days until NSD #1 (Dec. 20)
Things are getting interesting. As things sit today, Baylor will enter spring ball with a total of 84 players on scholarship including 19 signees. That means the staff can take one more spot to get to 85 overall, putting them at 20 for the class. But attrition isn't finished, and as is the case in every recruiting cycle, the chances are that there will be a decommitment and/or grade casualty in the class. The biggest and most obvious needs are JUCO OL, high school QB, and any combination of safeties. If the Bears can fit those three categories into their class they will enter spring camp feeling good about the possibilities as the preparation for 2018 begins. But what if I told you (in an ESPN 30 for 30 narrator voice) that Baylor might be sitting in a position that they are actually allowed to be selective in the prospects they choose to take commitments from, all of which would be valuable pieces to the program? That's how things could be shaping up. I can't say how exactly it will unfold, but of the prospects that Baylor is still in the mix for, they sit in a very good position with all of them. The usual suspects:Gerry Bohanon Tommy Bush Daevon Robinson Byron HanspardCam JonesJohncarlo Valentin Willie Allen If the Bears were to somehow land the seven names from above without any attrition, the Bears would be stuck at six over the scholarship limit. There are still prospects which the Bears could be after, however. The next group:Levon Livingston (OL, Navarro)Reid Harrison-Ducros (DB, Boise State, transfer)Khalil Oliver (S, Oregon, grad transfer)Tre Watson (LB, Illinois, grad transfer)Gabe Megginson (OG, Illinois, transfer)Pat Nelson (S, Illinois, grad transfer)Each of those prospects has an interest in landing at Baylor at this time. The good news is that they could each fill significant needs immediately. The bad news is that Baylor has to figure out what they need the most from the listed prospects and move from there. (Note: The Illinois transfers are based on need and not solid intel as of right now.)Outside of the prospects listed there are still several other high school, junior college and transfers from four-year institutions being closely evaluated by the staff, but these are the names worth closely monitoring currently.

Quick notes on Willie Allen
Willie Allen - There's a chance that the TJC OL will be in Waco next weekend for an unofficial visit. Allen told me that he's been trying to get to Waco for a visit but has not had a ride from Tyler.- Allen is eligible to take another official visit to Baylor after taking one in the summer. I'm not sure the specific details but basically he entered another recruitment. He will take an official to Baylor, likely at the end of December.- He will take 19 hours at TJC between now and May to graduate and head to his school of choice in summer session one. - I'm feeling good about my prediction that Allen will end up at Baylor. Baylor is talking to him every single day. He has a conversation with Matt Rhule on Friday morning before the team left for Kansas when Rhule told him they want him no matter what.

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a SicEm365 rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the SicEm365 Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide SicEm365 readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.
