Baylor ranked No. 13 in latest College Football Playoff Top 25

Baylor (7-2) remained in the College Football Playoff Top 25 at No. 13 when the committee released its latest update on Tuesday evening. The news comes after a loss on the road to TCU over the weekend.

Included in Baylor’s seven wins is a victory over No. 14 BYU.

After starting 4-0 on the season, Baylor dropped its first game of the season to a No. 10-ranked Oklahoma State in the fifth game of the season. The second loss to the unranked Horned Frogs came after reeling off three-straight wins ahead of the initial CFP Top 25 release where the Bears were ranked No. 12.

Baylor will look to keep its Big 12 Championship hopes alive and another top 25 when this weekend as Dave Aranda’s squad welcomes No. 8 Oklahoma to Waco this Saturday.

They couldn't rank us below BYU…

I'm surprised we didn't drop further after losing to a bad, unranked team. Saturday is our chance.

I guess rivalry games hit different. I think the committee also recognizes the fact that changes in QB and coaching can really create some weird challenges that normally isn't there. It's hard enough to play a rivalry game but add in all the moving pieces and you have a recipe either for a massive blowout or an upset depending on how the chips fall.

The reason they didn't drop Baylor is to help OU. If the Sooners beat the Bears Saturday, the committee would consider that beating a "quality, ranked opponent." They'd rather have to deal with putting OU in there instead of Cincinnati.
