Bears Dominate Wildcats in 45-Point Win, 95-50

WACO, Texas — No. 10 Baylor women’s basketball (18-5, 8-3) dominated Kansas State (17-7, 7-5) at the Ferrell Center 95-50.

The Wildcats came into Waco with the same number of Big 12 wins as the Bears, led by the nation’s record holder for points in a game Ayoka Lee (62). A graphic released before the game even placed Lee well above Baylor’s NaLyssa Smith in the national rankings. 

Yeah, that probably wasn’t accurate. 

Led by Smith’s 22 points and seven boards, the Bears were untouchable. And defensively? Lee scored just eight points and had six boards. That speaks for itself. 

The first half was a bloodbath. Kansas State stayed relatively close in the first quarter — just an 18-14 deficit — but the second quarter was a much different story. The Bears jumped on the Wildcats 28-13 in the quarter alone with a barrage from deep. 

Thanks to three Lee fouls quickly, a 6-10 Bears clip from deep, and a 21-11 rebound advantage for Baylor against the much larger Wildcats, Nicki Collen’s team led 46-27 at the break.

The opening of the second half was not kind to the Wildcats. Baylor placed the final nail in the Wildcat coffin with a 32-11 third quarter. That was the game. 95-50. This was not close. 

In all, Baylor had a wild four players with 19 points or more. Queen Egbo and Sarah Andrews notched 19, and Smith added 22 to complement Jordan Lewis’ game-leading 24. That, my Bear friends, is what we call good. 

The Green and Gold shot 57% to the visiting team’s 33%. Baylor shot 58% — solely from deep. Rebounding? Try 43-23 on for size. Points in the paint? 40-28. Assists? 30-8.

Inside. Outside. It did not matter. Baylor dominated this game in every aspect.
