TOP QUOTES

Esteban Cardoza-Oquendo on the mindset heading into Morgantown

”It’s just another Big 12 weekend. We know it’s going to be good competition. We’re just going out there to dominate the game one pitch at a time and hopefully, we’ll go out on top.”

Tyler Thomas on the current state of the team

”Just go out and win. Control what you can control. We dropped a couple of games we think we should have won and hopefully it doesn’t come back and bite us in the end. But really hindsight is 20/20, you can't change the past. We have to keep going forward and win the series we are supposed to win and go from there.”

Coach Rodriguez on the offense

”I think that our offense has the opportunity to do something special. When they take good at-bats, when they hit the ball hard in the ‘killzone,’ when they don’t swing as bad pitches. Well, that's every offense in the country, but our guys have done a really good job of making those adjustments. You can kind of see it, we were only a couple of swings from turning [the DBU] game completely around. That’s what I really like, we have guys 1-9 who step in there and make good swings on baseballs. They have done a really good job of that in recent weeks. ”

What I Am Looking For This Weekend

  • Jack Mackenzie - SicEm365
As always, the bullpen will be key
West Virginia is a solid ball club. They have some great arms and are a terror on the basepaths. The Mountaineers are 99-125 in stolen base opportunities. Their offense does not rack up that many runs, but they have a lot of balance in their lineup.
  • Extra-Base Hits! The offense has been great and we have done a great job in recent weeks of getting extra-base hits.
  • Thomas, Andrade, and Rigney have all been excellent. After they leave the game, it gets dicey. It’s tough to have faith in late innings if the game is tight with the way the bullpen is currently performing. My biggest fear this weekend is West Virginia capitalizing on walks with a multitude of stolen bases.
  • However, Mason Marriott was great last weekend. That’s a positive. Let’s see if he can carry the momentum over.

Quick Side Notes

  • It’s supposed to rain all weekend in Morgantown, hopefully, the games are able to be played.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Top of the 2nd, Bears get 3 straight walks to start the inning, but get nothing on the scoreboard.

After 4 batters in the bottom of the 2nd, WV has scored twice, still batting.

At least we're not waiting until late innings to fall apart.

After walking the bases loaded in the 2nd and getting away with it, WV walks the bases loaded in the 3rd and Bears bats find the ball.

Bears score 3 to tie the game before 2 strikeouts, one on a questionable high strike call and one on a stupid swing way out of the zone.

2 outs top of the 3rd, game tied 3-3.

Bears finish top of the 3rd with 3 straight strikeouts, the last 2 swings so stupid they must have been listening to Coach Rod.

On to the bottom of the 3rd, tied at 3, hoping the Bears figure out how to pitch to corners instead of the fat middle of the plate.
