The Tennessee Titans signed Xavier Newman-Johnson to an undrafted free agent deal shortly after the 2022 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-2, 315-pound offensive guard finished his fifth and final year in green and gold as a starter in all 14 games at left guard and played a rejuvenated brand of football under first-year line coach Eric Mateos and OC Jeff Grimes.

The DeSoto HS alum finished his career with 37 starts in 47 games. Those starts included 28 games at left guard, eight at right guard, and one start at center.

He was named an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 after helping pave the way for Jeff Grimes’ RVO attack and Abram Smith’s record-breaking rushing season.

Following the most successful season in school history, Newman-Johnson was invited to participate in the annual East-West Shrine Bowl and received several favorable reviews throughout the week.

However, he was snubbed for an NFL Combine invite, making him the only Baylor all-star game prospect to not get a chance in Indy. Nevertheless, he worked out in full and performed well enough for scouts at Pro Day.

Newman-Johnson is the second former Bear to sign a post-Draft deal, joining Abram Smith, who heads to New Orleans. Thanks to six picks, Baylor is sending eight new players to the league as of Saturday night, although the work is just beginning.
