WACO, Texas – Baylor volleyball and eighth-year head coach Ryan McGuyre unveiled the 2022 regular-season schedule on Thursday. All dates and times are subject to change.

The Bears’ 29-match ledger includes four tournaments - the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge tournament hosted by TCU, the Pepperdine Asics Classic and two non-conference home tournaments in the Ferrell Center, the Baylor Invitational and Baylor Classic.

BU is set to face 11 teams that made the NCAA Tournament in 2021, including three who were featured in the Elite Eight. Four teams on the docket were also in the final top-25 AVCA rankings, two being in the top five.

Baylor will have a total of 15 home matches, five of which will be held on a Saturday, after having just 10 home matches overall last season.

The Big 12 Conference’s match format returns to the home-and-home configuration for each series in 2022, whereas matches were played back-to-back in 2021.

To begin the year, the Bears face Minnesota and Wisconsin, respectively, in the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge, opening the season with the same two opponents as they did a year ago. Both matches will be hosted by TCU in Fort Worth on August 26-27.

The road slate continues for BU with three more matches, heading to Malibu, Calif., for Pepperdine’s tournament. BU will see the Waves, San Diego and UCSB from September 1-3 in the Firestone Fieldhouse.

Baylor opens the home slate the Baylor Invitational on Sept. 8-9, facing Colorado State, Arizona State and Evansville.

A midweek match with North Texas on Sept. 13 breaks up tournament play before BU hosts Tulsa, Sam Houston and McNeese from Sept. 15-16 in the Baylor Classic.

From there, Baylor jumps right into conference play, hosting the Horned Frogs on Sept. 21. The Bears then hit the road to face Iowa State (9/28) and Kansas (10/1) before returning home to host Oklahoma on Oct. 5.

BU travels to West Virginia on Oct. 8, then plays a non-conference midweek at Rice on Oct. 12. Back in the Ferrell Center, Baylor has a marquee matchup with Texas on Oct. 15 before its midweek bout with Texas Tech on Oct. 19.

On the road again, the Bears face Kansas State for the first time on Oct. 22. They’ll have their second match with the Sooners on Oct. 26 in Norman, Okla., before seeing WVU for the second time on Oct. 29 at home.

To start out play in November, BU travels to Lubbock for a midweek with the Red Raiders. The Jayhawks come to Waco for a Nov. 5 bout, then the squad takes a short trip up I-35 to Fort Worth for the second part of the series with TCU on Nov. 12.

Winding down the regular season, the Cyclones come to the Ferrell Center on Nov. 16, then the Bears go south on I-35 for the second half of the matchup with the Longhorns on Nov. 19.

Baylor rounds out the conference slate and home schedule with the Wildcats of KSU on Nov. 26 in Waco.

The annual intrasquad Green & Gold Scrimmage officially kicks off the 2022 season on Aug. 17, with an exhibition against Texas A&M to follow on Aug. 20, both on the Bears’ home court in Ferrell.

BU will look to build upon its sixth-consecutive 20-win season, finishing 22-6 last year with an appearance in the NCAA Regional Semifinals and a Big 12 runner-up finish. The Bears are led by seniors Kara McGhee and Lauren Harrison, as well as graduate student newcomer Mallory Talbert.

Single-game and season ticket options will be available for purchase by July 20. Season tickets are $50 for general admission and $75 for reserved seating. Single-game tickets are $3 for group tickets, $5 for general admission and $10 for reserved with the exception of the Texas match on Oct. 15, where it will be $5 group, $10 GA and $15 reserved. Fans must purchase a minimum of 20 tickets to receive the group rate.

Sections 101, 103, 111, 113, 115 and 123, all baseline sections on the east and west sides of the Ferrell Center, will have reserved ticketing from row 18 and below. These options will be available at a later date on BaylorBears.com/tickets.
