35 Days till Kickoff: Baylor’s #35 Jackie Marshall
As always, keep track of both the stats and roster countdowns in the Offseason Hub!
Jackie Marshall is a redshirt-freshman linebacker from LaPlace, Louisiana. He will have three years of eligibility remaining past 2022, and Baylor’s website has him listed at 6-foot-2, 280 pounds.
Marshall will be rotating on base downs behind Garmon Randolph at the JACK position for the upcoming season. Our own Travis Roeder and Grayson Grundhoefer are both extremely excited to see how Marshall develops this year. They jokingly noted he won’t have a tough time setting the edge because of how strong he already is.
As a senior at East St. John High School, Marshall helped anchor the defense of an 8-2 team. He recorded 70 tackles, 24 TFLs, 13.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 2020. He was a two-time First-Team All-District honoree and was rated as a three-star recruit, according to 247. He was the No. 16 player in Lousiana and the No. 16 linebacker nationally. He committed to Baylor over a plethora of P5 offers such as Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech. After arriving in Waco, the Lousiana native redshirted the 2021 season.
