34 Days till Kickoff: Baylor’s #34 Josh Cameron
As always, keep track of both the stats and roster countdowns in the Offseason Hub!
Josh Cameron is a redshirt freshman wide receiver from Cedar Park, Texas. Baylor’s website has him listed at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, and he will have three years of eligibility remaining past this season. Without much experience in the Bears’ receiver room heading into Fall Camp, Cameron will have the chance to compete for a starting spot and prove he is one of the best receivers on the roster.
Our Travis Roeder and Grayson Grundhoefer are extremely high on Cameron going into 2022, noting that he is a great route runner with great size and great hands. Cameron made a rather remarkable jump this spring, going from a walk-on receiver to being one of the three starters out wide at the Green and Gold Game. Shortly after the spring game, Coach Aranda and his staff rewarded Cameron with a scholarship.
Cameron redshirted the 2021 season but appeared in the final three games of the season against Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Ole Miss.
At Cedar Park High School, Cameron led his team to a 14-1 record and a trip to the state championship game in 2020. He had video game numbers as a senior, totaling 90 receptions, 1,226 yards, and 14 touchdowns. He was voted team captain, First Team All-District, Austin All-Area Pick, and CPHS Offensive MVP. As a junior in 2019, he had 80 receptions, 1,127 yards, and 14 touchdowns. He wasn’t highly recruited, partially because he injured his groin as a senior, which hampered his speed, but Cameron committed to Baylor as a preferred walk-on in the 2021 class.
