29 Days till Kickoff: Baylor’s #29 Romario Noel
As always, keep track of both the stats and roster countdowns in the Offseason Hub!
Romario Noel is a redshirt freshman cornerback from Cypress, Texas. Noel will have three years of eligibility remaining past this season, and Baylor’s website has him listed at a solid 6-foot-3, 210 pounds for his position.
Our own Travis Roeder had this to say about Noel, “I was very happy with what we saw from him this Spring. He wasn’t a major project coming out of high school, but he was comparatively raw, and you knew it would take a few years before he would see the field. In year 2, his progression looks where I want it to be. He’s big, long, and very fluid. Whether he ever starts will be determined by whether he can start playing fast and become a playmaker. If the starter gets hurt this year, I think Noel will see some time but would sooner expect them to move another guy (say, insert Morgan, or perhaps move Snaxx back to STAR, etc.) before having Noel play full-time. Or maybe it clicks, and he’s ready to roll this year. I’d look to next year, though.”
At Cy Ranch High School, Noel totaled 39 tackles, 3.0 TFLs, and three PBUs as a senior while leading his team to a 7-3 record in 2020. He was an All-District honoree, was a three-star recruit, and was ranked the No. 115 player in Texas, according to 247. Dave Campbell ranked Noel as the sixth-best cornerback in the Lone Star state. He originally committed to Matt Rhule and Baylor but stayed firm in his commitment to the Bears despite the coaching change. After arriving on campus in 2021, Noel did not appear in a game and redshirted this past season.
