16 Days till Kickoff: Baylor’s #16s Hal Presley & Mike Harris

Hal Presley is a talented sophomore receiver from Mansfield, Texas. Baylor’s website has him listed at 6-foot-3, 199 pounds, and he should have two years of eligibility remaining past this season. 

Our own Travis Roeder thinks Presley will have a chance to be a key contributor to Baylor’s offense this fall, saying, “he’s tall, has great hands, is great at the line of scrimmage, is truly elite at making contested catches, and has good enough deep speed to keep DBs honest. He’s the ideal “X” WR prospect, i.e., a guy you can line up to the short side of the field who can abuse solo coverage.“

Presley appeared in eight games as a true freshman in 2021. He recorded his first career carry for 13 yards in the blowout win over Texas Southern and recorded his first career catch in the victory over West Virginia.

At Mansfield Summit High School, Presley racked up 43 catches for 1,073 yards and 16 TDs, during his All-State senior season. As a junior, Presley had 45 catches for 874 yards and eight touchdowns. He was Texas Division 7-6A first-team selection at receiver in 2019 and District 7-6A sophomore offensive player of the year in 2018. Presley was the No. 56 player in Texas, the No. 57 wide receiver nationally, and a four-star recruit, according to 247. The Mansfield native originally committed to Baylor before switching his commitment to Auburn. After arriving at Auburn in the summer of 2021, Presley entered the transfer portal and returned to Baylor before the 2021 season.

Mike Harris is a sophomore safety from Phenix City, Alabama. He should have two years of eligibility remaining past this season, and Baylor’s website has him listed at 5-foot-10, 168 pounds. While at BU, he is studying health, kinesiology, and leisure studies. 

Harris did not appear in any games as in 2021, and in 2020, he appeared in the seasoner opener against Kansas before redshirting the rest of the season. 

Harris was a First Team All-State selection in his senior season at Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama. Harris anchored a defense that went all the way to the state title game, totaling 75 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. On a state championship-winning team in 2018, Harris had 48 tackles and seven PBUs as a junior. He was a consensus three-star recruit and was the No. 43 player in Alabama, according to 247. Harris was a big-time get for the Bears in the 2020 class. He chose Baylor over Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
