Pair of Bears Named to Reese’s Senior Bowl Watchlist
WACO, Texas – Baylor football seniors Connor Galvin and Ben Sims have been named to the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl Watchlist, as announced Wednesday by the all-star game.
Galvin started all 14 games for BU in 2021, anchoring an offensive line that led the Big 12 with 219.3 rushing yards per game. The Katy, Texas, native garnered multiple All-America honors in 2021 in addition to being named the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year. Already this preseason, he has collected preseason All-America honors by six publications and earned spots on the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award watch lists.
Sims racked up a career-best 31 receptions for 361 yards and six touchdowns in 2021. His nine career TDs are the most by a tight end in Baylor history. The product of San Antonio, Texas, has previously been named to the Mackey Award watch list, in addition to multiple preseason all-conference nods.
Last year, the Bears saw four players participate in the all-star game in Terrel Bernard, Jalen Pitre, Abram Smith and JT Woods. Previously, William Bradley-King (2021), JaMycal Hasty (2020), Denzel Mims (2020) and Jalen Hurd (2019) represented the green and gold at the event.
The Reese’s Senior Bowl is widely regarded as the preeminent college football all-star game and the first stage in the NFL Draft process. The longest continual-running all-star game has taken place in Mobile, Ala., the past 73 years. This past April, the game produced a record-tying 106 total draft picks for the second-straight year, representing 40 percent of the entire NFL Draft, including 45 of the top-100 players selected.
This year’s game will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, and will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
