Montverde Academy 2023 C Letycia Vasconcelos commits to Baylor over Texas

Baylor coach Nicki Collen lands another standout prospect as 6-foot-7 center, Letycia Vasconcelos‍ of Brazil and now Montverde Academy (FL) has given her pledge to the Bears. Vasconcelos chose Baylor over Texas as she becomes the Bears first commit in the 2023 class.

She is rated a high four star by ESPN and plays for Brazil in U18. 

On the court, the future Bear is long and athletic. She runs the floor well, has soft touch, and will contribute quickly. Vasconcelos is a strong finisher at the rim and isn’t afraid of contact.

Coach posted a video of her dunking a few days ago. It's a bit awkward and on alley-oop but it's done off 2 feet.

3-4 inches taller
As I recall Beatrice Mompremier was a good rebounder, shot blocker, and rim runner. I thought BU could have fielded the best front court in the country but she chose to transfer. I suppose it was too much for her to come off the bench but I thought she might be the best 6 woman in WBB. Can't blame her I guess. I am surprised she played less that 10 mins a game for Atlanta.

Yes, the problem's name was Lauren Cox. Beatrice saw very clearly who was coming for her minutes in Lauren's freshman year.

Uses both hands well. Moves well. Can handle the ball. This is an under the radar great get which completely eliminates our biggest weakness last year. She will get a lot of minutes as the season progresses. Might put a little pressure on Abraham to mature a little faster as a side benefit.

It will be refreshing to have so much quality depth and versatility in the front court. I believe our coaches will have a great time moving the chess pieces around to create problems for the opposition. We should be much stronger and more consistent in the upcoming season.
