Kade Fletcher, a graduate transfer utility player from Oklahoma, has committed to Mitch Thompson and the Baylor baseball program via the transfer portal, per BU Athletics.

Since transferring to Oklahoma for the 2022 season, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound catcher/first baseman/outfielder dealt with injuries and made just three appearances in two years with the Sooners.

Prior to OU, Fletcher spent two years at Paris Junior College, where he hit .250 with four home runs and 30 RBIs in 2021, and in 2020, he hit .341 with five homers before Covid canceled the season.

Fletcher attended Mansfield HS, the same high school as fellow BU outfielders Hunter Simmons (Sr.) and Gavin Brzozowski (So.).

Fletcher is the Bears’ sixth portal addition this summer, joining Enzo Apodaca (OF, Gonzaga), Ryan Martinez (SS, San Francisco), Mason Greer (1B, Missouri State), Patrick Hail (RHP, Lamar) and Jack Little (INF, Wichita State) as the five others.

Currently, the 2024 squad includes 23 returnees, 13 incoming freshmen, six incoming JUCO additions and six portal additions. Assistant coach Zach Dillon stated that the staff wants 47-50 players competing for 40 spots in the fall.
