Saturday’s 30-18 loss to Iowa State on Homecoming might have been the one that completely broke the fanbase for this season. It’s been grueling to watch the product of football that Baylor (3-5, 2-3) has put on the field dating back to the loss to Kansas State in 2022.
It’s one thing for people who aren’t connected to the program to call it what it is, but it hits a little different when the greatest player in program history is completely dissatisfied after setting the standard for what Baylor football could and or should be.

BAD - Baylor (Lost 30-18 to Iowa State)
I’ve been harsh on Baylor this year and for good reason. It seems like for at least half of every game they look lifeless. That is exactly what happened in this game for almost three full quarters. The Bears had trouble slowing down Iowa State’s offense while their own offense couldn’t get anything going until late in the game. Blake Shapen wasn’t good, his offensive line wasn’t good, and do you see where this is going? This team has so many issues it’s not even funny and there is a serious chance that Baylor will not make a bowl game this season. Dave Aranda, you are officially on the hot seat.
Baylor’s offense is almost nonexistent, as it currently ranks last in the Big 12 averaging just 22.5 points per game. The Bears have scored just 19 touchdowns on the season while settling for 15 field goals. According to the Kelly Ford Rankings, Baylor is 80th in points per game and are currently averaging -3.4 points below the FBS average.

This week, Baylor will take on Houston (3-5, 1-4) for the first time since 1995. This series has been back-and-forth over the course of time, with the Bears leading the overall series 14-13-1, including 8-6-1 in Waco.
