The Baylor All Sports Report: Spring Sports in Full Swing

Men’s Basketball
- No. 14/13 completed the regular season at 22-9 (11-7) becoming the only Big 12 team with 11+ conference wins in each of the last five seasons.
- The Bears had five representatives on All-Big 12 teams, headlined by Baylor’s second-straight Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Ja’Kobe Walter.
- Baylor joins Oklahoma State as the only other schools in the conference to have the preseason and postseason Freshman of the year in back-to-back seasons.
- RayJ Dennis made the All-Big 12 Second team and the All-Newcomer team
- Yves Missi made the All-Defensive team as well as being named an Honorable Mention
- Jalen Bridges was named to the Third Team, while Langston Love was an Honorable Mention.
- No. 3 seed Baylor opens play at the 2024 Big 12 Championship with a quarterfinal matchup at 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN or ESPN2. Earning a double-bye, Baylor will await the winner of No. 6 Kansas and the winner of No. 11 Cincinnati and No. 14 West Virginia.
Women’s Basketball
- No. 19 Baylor fell to Iowa State, who is headed to the Big 12 Championship title game Tuesday night, in the quarterfinal round of the tournament in Kansas City.
- The 2024 NCAA Division I WBB March Madness bracket will be revealed during the Selection Show at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, on ESPN.
Softball
- No. 14 Baylor softball went 3-2 last week picking up two midweek wins before falling in their first conference series against No. 7 Oklahoma State. The Bears took down OSU in the Saturday matchup, 2-0, with pitcher RyLee Crandall throwing a one-hitter.
- BU will face Lamar for a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday before heading to Kansas to face the Jayhawks in a three-game conference series this weekend.
Acrobatics & Tumbling
- No. 1 A&T defeated Long Island on Tuesday, March 5 by 33.19 points on the road. They toppled No. 15 Iona on the previous Sunday by 19+ points.
- The Bears will host No. 4 Gannon on Saturday for Senior Day as well as the “Fill the Ferrell” promotion with $1 tickets available. BU will celebrate its seven seniors postmeet.
- Saturday’s meet will be the last home meet of the season before the Bears compete against Augustana and Oregon on the road.
- BU is on a 31-meet winning streak, dating back to 2021.
Baseball
- BSB returns home to Baylor Ballpark for four games this week, including a midweek matchup against SFA and a weekend series against No. 23 Texas Tech.
- BU is facing the 23rd-ranked strength of schedule and its opponents have won a combined 128 games, tied for eighth-most in the country.
- 56% of Baylor’s offense has been produced by underclassmen or a player in his first season at Baylor.
- 45% of Baylor’s innings pitched have come from true or redshirt freshmen.
Men’s Tennis
- The Bears completed a four match stretch over four days this weekend, going 3-1.
- BU defeated No. 33 VCU, Omaha and Cleveland State at the Hurd Tennis Center, while its comeback fell just short at No. 2 TCU, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon.
- Ethan Muza improved his team-leading singles win streak to 10, while Devin Badenhorst and Marko Miladinovic lead the overall win count at 11 each.
Women’s Tennis
- BU has won five-straight and hit the road for three matches beginning on Wednesday when it travels to face Nebraska.
- The Bears return to Big 12 action this weekend at Kansas State and No. 1 Oklahoma State. Baylor is a perfect 4-0 in league play.
- Miska Kadleckova leads the way for the Bears with a 10-1 record in singles and 4-0 mark in Big 12 action.
- Collectively, the Bears are 17-3 in singles, and 6-4 in doubles, during conference matches this season.
Track & Field
- Closed out the 2024 indoor season at the NCAA Championships in Boston, Mass., over the weekend.
- Alexis Brown (long jump) and Nathaniel Ezekiel (400m) claimed All-America honors across the two-day meet.
- The Bears open the outdoor season at the TCU Alumni Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Fort Worth.
Women’s Golf
- Finished tied for 13th at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate
- The Bears were one of just two teams to have three players finish in the top-20. (Ashleen Kaur T-16, Rosie Belsham T-19 and Sera Hasegawa T-19)
- BU will return to Action at the Florida State Match Up March 15-17 in Tallahassee, Fla.
Men’s Golf
- Finished 12th at the Cabo Collegiate led by Johnny Keefer’s tie for 20th and Freshman Davis Ovard’s tie for 23rd.
- The Bears will return to Action On March 18-19 at the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.
Equestrian
- Lauren Reid was named Big 12 Flat Rider of the Month after posting a 3-0 record in February
- Tatum Mitchell picked up NCEA Standout Student Athlete of the Month honors
- BU returns to action at the 2024 Big 12 Equestrian Championship, hosting at Willis from March 29-30
