Richard Reese, Former Big 12 Offensive Freshman Of The Year, To Enter Transfer Portal
Rising senior running back Richard Reese has entered the transfer portal, according to his social media.
Reese, the former Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, took a step back in his on-the-field role last fall, carrying the ball 56 times for 233 yards and a touchdown.
The Bellville native was passed on the depth chart by the two underclassman tailbacks, Bryson Washington and Dawson Pendergrass.
Washington totaled 13 touchdowns and became the first freshman in program history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. Meanwhile, Pendergrass totaled 608 yards and four touchdowns on the ground as Washington’s primary backup.
According to Pendergrass, Reese remained a positive presence in the running back room. "He's helping us out," he said. He's very wise and older. He helps us out a lot and is very humble. He's a great guy."
During his Baylor career, Reese totaled over 1,500 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. As a freshman in 2022, Reese had his best season with the Bears, carrying the ball 198 times for 972 yards and 14 scores.
Reese will enter the portal with one year of eligibility remaining.
