Top Quotes

Head coach Mitch Thompson on Baylor’s hot start to the season:

  • “It’s been a good start. With the first two weeks at home, we’ve gotten our feet underneath us, and we’re getting a little feel for the ballclub and how to use guys — I think it went great. The first two weeks are behind us, and now we have to move forward with a big weekend ahead of us.”

Head coach Mitch Thompson on the level of competition Baylor will face this weekend:

  • “All three teams are talented. We’ll get tested for sure. I liken this thing to be like a prelim of a regional tournament. These are four really quality teams from four quality conferences, and it’ll be a lot of fun. … We’ll learn a lot this weekend, and these guys are ready to compete; they are excited.”

Catcher JJ Kennett (So.) on the opportunity to play against great competition in an MLB stadium:

  • “It’s a dream come true to get to go to Globe Life with all of the guys and live out that dream playing in that park and really show everybody what Baylor baseball is about this year and show them how we’re coming. I’m super excited.”

Right-handed pitcher Caleb Bunch (Sr.) on the lessons learned from the extra innings loss to Gonzaga last weekend:

  • “Those back-and-forth games are really big just because it shows you that if we get hit, we don’t stay down. We come right back at you. I think that’s a good thing for us.”
