Baylor Baseball: 2025 Offseason Thread
Head coach Mitch Thompson and Baylor baseball have received a commitment from Odessa College infielder Robert De La Garza.
De La Garza is a rising junior and had a stellar season for the Wranglers in 2025, leading Odessa College in batting average (.415), on-base percentage (.494), at-bats (212) and extra-base hits (39).
The Eagle Pass (TX) native also tallied 20 stolen bases and had more walks (32) than strikeouts (28) while earning WJCAC Region 5 all-conference honors. De La Garza led off for the Wranglers and mostly played second base. At one point, he had an on-base streak of over 40 games.
As a freshman at Odessa College in 2024, De La Garza saw action in just eight games.
The transfer portal opens on Monday, June 2, and the Bears will have to retool a senior-heavy lineup that was led by shortstop Tyriq Kemp, outfielders Wesley Jordan and Enzo Apodaca, designated hitter Hunter Simmons and catcher Cortlan Castle.
