My gut feeling (I'm not an insider in any way) is that Linda put that out to tamp down the rampant buzz about the next coaching hire, because it's not happening.
Didn't really work, it just got everyone more confused. Fans just thought is was a foregone conclusion that there would be a new head coach next season, and don't want to let go of that notion.
I think Baylor serious is sticking with Aranda for another year. And they aren't going to be in a huge hurry to hire a new AD to change that decision.
It's really the only reason that announcement and timing makes some kind of sense. And I totally get why it is so hard to understand by most of us.
I don't think it has really gotten the affect they wanted. It's going to be a tough situation for everyone involved.
