UTSA rising redshirt junior defensive tackle Daemian Wimberly has signed with Baylor out of the transfer portal and becomes the fifth defensive lineman to commit to the Bears in the 2026 transfer portal cycle.

Wimberly totaled 11 tackles, four tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks this season with the Roadrunners on 168 snaps. Wimberly boasted an 80.2 tackling grade, per Pro Football Focus.

The 6-foot-4. 265-pound Wimberly redshirted as a true freshman at SMU, but transferred to UTSA. He played in all 13 games and tallied eight tackles and a fumble recovery in 2024 for the Mustangs.

Wimberly was a First-Team All-State player at Vandergrift High School in Austin, posting 85 tackles, 17 sacks, five forced fumbles and six pass breakups to help lead the Vipers to a 14-2 record and a Class 6A D-II state runner-up finish in 2022.

The three-star prospect was rated as the No. 91-best defensive lineman in the nation and committed to SMU. He held offers from Texas Tech, Arizona State, Baylor, TCU, Indiana and many others out of high school.

He has two years of eligibility remaining.
