Baylor has added LSU transfer defensive back Austin Ausberry out of the NCAA transfer portal, SicEm365 has learned. Ausberry competed in just four games in 2025 for the Tigers, preserving his redshirt season before entering the transfer portal.
Ausberry spent the 2024 season with LSU, appearing in all 12 games primarily on special teams. He recorded one tackle during the season, which came in LSU’s opener against USC in Las Vegas. Ausberry played 157 total special teams snaps in 2024, working extensively on kickoff coverage, kickoff return, punt return and punt coverage units.
Prior to LSU, Ausberry played two seasons at Auburn, appearing in seven games across 2022 and 2023 and recording two tackles.
Ausberry is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, earning recognition in 2022 as a First-Year Academic Honor Roll selection and again in 2024. He transferred to LSU in January of 2024.
A Baton Rouge native, Ausberry prepped at University High School on the LSU campus, where he played both linebacker and wide receiver. He helped lead the Cubs to a Louisiana Division II state championship as a senior and participated in the Under Armour All-America Game. He was rated as a top-20 prospect in the state of Louisiana and one of the top players nationally at his position. Ausberry also competed in track and field and graduated from high school with a 3.6 GPA.
Ausberry now transfers to Baylor as a versatile defensive back with experience across multiple special teams units.
