Baylor’s Mason Green Out for Season, Dealing Another Blow to Bears’ Pitching Staff
Baylor left-handed pitcher Mason Green (Jr.) is set to miss the remainder of the season with an arm injury, a source confirmed to SicEm365; the Waco Tribune-Herald’s Michael Haag first broke the story.
After dealing with injuries all throughout the offseason, Green has been limited to only three outings so far this season. Across those 4.1 innings, the Cypress, Texas, native allowed two earned runs and struck out seven.
Last year, Green missed the first half of the season with a shoulder injury, but upon return, he looked like one of the best arms on the roster, as he made seven starts and posted a 4.91 ERA. In performances against Utah, Arizona State and UCF, the southpaw combined to allow just one earned run across 12 innings of work.
The Bears have struggled in recent years to field a consistent weekend rotation, and those issues have carried into 2026 as the original Friday-night starter, Lucas Davenport (RJr.), has missed two consecutive starts, and Wisconsin-Whitewater transfer Cade Hansen (Sr.) is currently fielding a 10.32 ERA following his first three starts in the Green and Gold.
After losing to Tarleton State on Tuesday, Baylor (6-6) will return to Waco and conclude its final series of non-conference play against Air Force (3-8). The opener is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6, at Baylor Ballpark. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
