With spring football wrapped up for head coach Dave Aranda and the Bears, the SicEm365 staff compiled a list of notes on what we’ve heard from sources close to the program heading into the summer.

NIL is in the bottom half of the Big 12 for the 2026 season

Baylor found itself in a really tough position this offseason with the lack of resources committed by boosters due to the hot seat Dave Aranda is on.

I obviously can't read the article, but that first line isn't promising. My honest take about the most recent transfer class was that it seemed that we took a lot of undersized players (offensive linemen in particular) from G5 schools that weren't exactly standouts on their respective teams, though there were a few promising players mixed in there like the tight end from Florida and Lagway obviously. Add in the comments from Aranda last week about how the offensive line doesn't look strong enough (or something to that effect, somebody correct me), yeah, I'm not getting warm and fuzzy feelings

We should have just cut davey and given the reins to a interim

It's almost impossible to win in football without a solid OL. The aranda comments and late OL adds are concerning. The money problems seem real. Lost coleton price to market. Couldnt afford big money experienced replacements. Couldn't afford experienced OL coach. dJ might need to be a hero. Seems like we are going to need a lot to break our way.

Let's be honest. Dave will never be a HC after this debacle. That's our #1 problem

Let the house burn down. This guy should've been fired years ago. The athletic department needs to suffer

The unfortunate thing I'm starting to see more clearly by putting the bits and pieces together is that our donors are mentally done with Dave, but also don't have enough confidence in the trajectory of the program and university's leadership to pony up the money to pay his buyout. Leaves us in this weird purgatory-esque state

McNamee was supposedly the guy that the donors wanted. Why isn't the money rolling in?

They just need to bite the bullet and fire him already. He could get lucky and win 7 games but he'll never have us the playoffs. Time to cut him before we're too far deep in the trenches.

It's so frustrating to see Iowa State make a great hire in a short period of time when Campbell left, but we acted like it was an impossible feat. It's like Baylor is only willing to be decisive when they're making poor decisions

Same with OSU. We all would have been happy with that coach. It's doable. I am tired of fkn hearing about money and blah blah blah. If someone REALLY wanted to do it, it should have happened..

I wonder whether BU's total cumulative player payroll in the CDA NIL era may already exceed the total cumulative under-the-table payments made to football players over decades before NIL. As long as college football keeps its current no-cap, unrestricted free-agent system, it is hard to feel much excitement about this season or any future one.
