Baylor Baseball Adds First Position Player Transfer with Kurt Ippolito Commitment

Baylor baseball has landed its first position player from the transfer portal, securing a commitment from Central Christian College of Kansas (NAIA) corner infielder/outfielder Kurt Ippolito.

Ippolito led the Tigers at the plate in 2026, boasting a .353 batting average, .454 on-base percentage and .641 slugging percentage, while earning Second-Team All-Sooner Conference honors. Ippolito also clubbed 11 home runs and led the squad with 45 RBIs across 46 contests. He drew nearly as many free passes (28) as he struck out (29).

In 2025, Ippolito earned the Freshman of the Year award in the Sooner Athletic Conference, as he posted a .402 batting average, .468 on-base percentage and .820 slugging percentage over the course of 34 games and 122 at-bats. He was atop the Tigers in home runs (13) and doubles (12).

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Ippolito is currently on the same summer team, Santa Barbara Foresters, as Baylor outfielder Brady Janusek. Ippolito was also named a California League All-Star. Ippolito hails from the Dallas-Fort Worth Area and attended Byron Nelson High School.

The Bears have also landed four pitchers in the transfer portal: Bradley’s Davis Webb, Miami’s Tate DeRias, Winthrop’s Brayden Gilley and Texas State’s Keller Eberly.
