Baylor football’s rivalry matchup against TCU is slated for 6 p.m. CDT on Saturday, Oct. 17, at McLane Stadium. The matchup will be nationally televised on FS1.

Head coach Dave Aranda and the Bears (4-1, 2-0) are coming off a commanding 55-19 road win over Arizona State and have a bye this week before facing the Horned Frogs.

Meanwhile, in Fort Worth, it’s been a rough start to the year for head coach Sonny Dykes and company as TCU (2-3, 0-2) has dropped its first two games in conference play to UCF and No. 10 BYU. The Horned Frogs also have a bye this weekend.

The theme of this year’s Revivalry is “Blackout on the Brazos,” which likely means the Bears will bring back the beloved anthracite uniforms. Baylor has worn them four times since reintroducing them at the start of the 2024 season, including in its thrilling 37-34 win over TCU that fall.

The Bears and Horned Frogs have battled 121 times since 1899, making it Texas's most-played rivalry. TCU leads the all-time series 60-54-7, and Baylor has won just two meetings in the last decade, in 2019 and 2024. However, six of the last eight matchups have been decided by a touchdown or less, including last year, when the Bears lost 42-36 in Fort Worth.

Wearing grey uniforms for a "Blackout" game.

Brilliant strategy.

You guys will literally complain about anything.

No normal person looks at those uniforms and would say they're grey.

I guess I'm not normal, but when I look at them I see grey uniforms with yellow gold numbers & lettering accented with black bear claws on the shoulders. It's blatantly obvious. The difference between grey & black is striking ....amazed that you can't see it.

Were the Briles blackout uniforms this color or black?

The color is anthracite, named after shiny coal. Most wouldn't associate coal with the color grey.

It's much closer to black than grey, which we wore in the Briles era and wouldn't pass for black under any circumstances.

I have no problem with dark gray uniforms and black or dark gray fans in the stands!
We won a National Championship with Anthracite uniforms (the best looking uniforms in the history of college basketball) and a bunch of black empty seats. So as far as I'm concerned black and dark gray is a perfect match especially if we blast the Toadies!

Huh? It's perfectly "normal" to call those uniforms a "dark gray" and when the light comes off it a certain way, it looks even lighter. The shades of gray and black are a spectrum. Where gray ends and black begins is completely subjective. I wouldn't call those uniforms "black". If you look at the article's picture above, the referee's cap and stripes and the players' undershirts - that's "black". The uniforms are considerably lighter.

Just wanted to join the "gray area" debate out of boredom.

Fun note: there's a shade of gray called "Davy's gray", which I think would have been more appropriate.

Jesus, can we talk about the matchup and this teams potential?

No way - their uniform combo is much more important!

TCU will be motivated and prepared. This is the crossroads for the season. If BU shows up and dominates, it's going to be a fun season. If we barely win, it'll be another CDA season. And if we lose - to this TCU team - we fall off a cliff.

I think there's a chance TCU just had its will broken last week at home against BYU.

But let's go ahead and show up fired up and prepared to drive their dicks in the dirt just in case.

Why would TCU be more motivated and prepared than us? We are the ones that have been losing to them. I would expect every team we play to be motivated and prepared.

I checked and Waco's average high temperature on Oct. 17th is 80 degrees. By 6 pm, 64 degrees.

So it will not be too hot for team and fans to wear black.

BUT be sure to save some black to drape the Horned Frog coffins.

I just hope TCU doesn't fire their coach or change quarterbacks before the game.

Boy do we ever owe them a grade-A butt whoopin'. I hope we come out with our hair on fire and put on a performance none of us will soon forget.

Why "should" they be? They shouldn't.

Why "would" they be? Well just going off past history.

Since a 6 pm kickoff in October means our fans can't b itch about sitting out in the hot sun, I knew there would be something else to b itch about. Looks like color of uniforms takes the first spot.

This will be an interesting matchup, and also interesting to see the staff predictions.

How good exactly is TCU?

Before last weekend's games so many posters on this board were saying TCU was horrible, and BYU was the class of the Big 12. Then TCU gives BYU a really tough game, could have won it.

Throw out all the records each week and dump them out on the table.

What we know for sure is that TCU hates Baylor and it's like their Superbowl. Is this the year Baylor rears back up and the Bears finally stomp some frawg ass?

Anthracite: (definition)… "an ultra dark-shade of gray". Can't argue with facts. Gray is gray. "Parts is parts" to quote an ole lady.

TCU's defense is good. Their offense may be the worst in the Big 12, Colorado included.

If we score 17 points, we likely beat this year's TCU team. If we get to 24 or 28 points, we win comfortably.

Good Lord, you guys are dorks.

No one but a few boomer fans on this site will think our dark uniforms look out of place in a black-out game, I assure you.
