Head coach Dave Aranda shared the latest update on quarterback DJ Lagway’s injury status following the bye week, saying, “Looks improved. From where he was when he played on Saturday to where he is now, he’s much improved. He’s running around. There’s pocket movement for him. There are quarterback runs for him. He’s moving around much better.”
Lagway suffered a high-ankle sprain in the season opener against Auburn but battled through to finish the contest. He missed the following two games against Prairie View A&M and Louisiana Tech, however.
In his return against Colorado on Sept. 26, Lagway looked a little rusty, throwing for 221 yards and two touchdowns on 19-of-39 passing, to go along with an interception. He had just two rushing attempts.
In his second game back from injury, Lagway was phenomenal in a 55-19 win over Arizona State on Oct. 3, earning Big 12 Player of the Week honors after throwing for a career-high four touchdowns and 306 yards.
As for the rest of the team, each of Baylor’s starting offensive linemen has been banged up at various points this fall, but Aranda had an encouraging update there as well, saying, “Looking good. Everyone’s full go right now.”
The Bears face TCU in a rivalry game at 6 p.m. CDT on Saturday, Oct. 17, at McLane Stadium. FS1 will televise the matchup nationally.
