BREAKING: Three Bears suspended to start season
WACO, Texas — Senior defensive end Greg Roberts has been suspended for Baylor's season opener against Abilene Christian on Sept. 1 and for the first of half the Bears road contest against UTSA the following week head coach Matt Rhule announced at his season opening press conference on Monday.
In addition, sophomore defensive end BJ Thompson and redshirt freshman linebacker Ashton Logan are also be suspended. Junior running back JaMycal Hasty will miss the first half of the Big 12 conference opener against Kansas.
Roberts not being included in the depth chart released by Baylor on Sunday evening came as a surprise after the senior traveled to Big 12 Media Days in July, but the suspension provided clarity. Sophomore James Lynch was noted as the starting defensive end in the depth chart.

Roberts (6-5, 264) started six of Baylor's 12 games as a junior in 2017, collecting 19 tackles and 4.0 tackles for loss. He has played in 30 career games with 15 starts totaling 45 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss.
