Ten Things: Baylor at Texas

October 24, 2020
7,928

Here are the ten things that stood out during the game against Texas on October 24, 2020. In honor of the late Jerry Jeff Walker, with all the players missing it seems like this season is just “Pissing In The Wind.”

  1. Baylor defense is bailing out the offense early in the game
  2. Third drive of the game showed the offensive line gelling and the Bears are up 3-0
  3. RJ Sneed‍ is having himself a day after returning from the hit against West Virginia
  4. What the punt?
  5. Flexing in an opponent’s end zone is a penalty, in an opponent’s face, no penalty
  6. The defense can only do so much
  7. Offense needs to find a way to put together drives
  8. Take the jet sweep page from the offensive playbook and throw it away
  9. Offense, offense, offense... Get it together
  10. Sam Ehlinger‍ will be getting some therapy after the game per the announcers
  11. Another drive by the offense. Need consistency.
  12. JT Woods‍ with the quick hands on the deflection from Mark Milton‍
  13. Gavin Holmes‍ and Ben Sims‍ being used has helped the offense as Texas keys on Sneed
  14. Tough game to play without practice for 10 days, but if the offense we saw at the end of the game is representative of what will come, Baylor will be ok

15. Milton's opposite side run down and tackle of Joshua Moore to stop the 1st down in the 4th quarter was beyond an incredible display of speed and resilience.

Maybe not on the offense, Charlie can't throw a pass over 15 to 20 yards the defenses are going to annihilate us moving forward

3 Things To Question

The short punt? If you go for a first and miss, you still keep Texas on their end of the field but hey, you might make it. If you still think punting it is best, why not coffin corner and not worry about a bounce or flying too deep?

Why go for two when we did?

Why not go for two when we didn't

14 is very true. That offense looked very serviceable and could win games with this defense. I am just glad we can get another full practice week for the TCU game, which is very winnable. Lots to build upon with what I saw in the late 3rd and 4th quarter.

It's really early but Arandas in game coaching is concerning. He literally punted from their 30. There's a million things you can do there... that's not one of them. I think he's learning and will learn from this game but that call will forever be a joke

Well, it's more than 10 but they are all valid--including #15.

A big disappointment of course, but better than the debacle in Morgantown. What is it about that place? Our MBB team had problems the last time they were there too.

I see lots of room for optimism--especially on defense but also some on offense. Charlie, OL, receivers, etc. still need work but I do see some improvement. If only they had played like they did in the 4th quarter in the previous 3, we would have had a better shot.

Oh, well time to move on. The Frogs are terrible and very beatable.

You had to go for 2 when we did..27-11 makes it a 2 score game..27-10 is a 3 score game..there wasn't enough time to play for 3 possessions

I'm ready for the Charlie Brewer-era to be over. I appreciate all he has sacrificed for the program. But the season is trashed, let the next guy get some game reps.

They need to stop running away from the program just because someone coughs.
