Mine is up early July 2022. I was hoping to find a web page of providers where I could enter last years kWh's by month into their rates but such a thing doesn't exist.

I signed up for a huge increase in my energy rates today for 36 months. After I signed up I got the really really fine print.

They will use the last 12 months kWh's usage divided by 12 and that charge will be made every month so I presume my July invoice will look the same for the next 12 months. NOt sure if I like or dislike.

Champion has been good to me.

I signed up for Energy Ogre years ago and they have done a great job of handling things for me.

$10/ month and they will call and ask questions about your house, desired rate structure and usage patterns. Then they shop and sigh you up for a plan at the best rate they can find. It has been seamless, even with multiple moves, and I consistently get great rates. ~3000 sq. foot house in Houston and we have not paid over $175 a month for electricity in 4 years, and we dont skimp on the AC when it is hot.

Best yet, every time a plan is up, they shop it again and move my account or renew if needed. Have not thought about electricity in ~8 years now and I love it.

We use Thigbe, which is a local company out of Aledo that is similar to Energy Ogre. They shop for you and take a very small percentage out of the monthly cost (surcharge - about 1% off the top of my head) and a portion of that actually is contributed to a local charity. Great service provided primary by real owners of the company (happen to be friends of friends, but I don't personally know them, just hear they're good folk).

Good timing on this... I actually received an email today about options. Due to the rising rates and expectation for even more for the foreseeable future, they are looking at locking in groups willing on 4 year contracts with a provided they found. Explained that if rates did what they are expected, it would save a dramatic amount of money vs a 1 or 2 year plan right now. If rates didn't fall as expected, the plan would be to pay the ETF (early termination fee) and buy at the lower rate. ETF cost of $250 if that were to happend, but that would be saved/offset in just a few months with the price difference already known.

I just wished there was a simple web site where you could plug in your last 12 months kWh's and see what the plan costs in real $$$.

Most of the sites I've check have all kinds of rates for 500, 1000 and 2000 kWh but all types of delivery charges and other fees tact on.

Based on my search they really are misleading.

Energy took a major hit this week in markets and I think it has hit its peak. Long term contracts could really backfire.

I work for an electric utility, so I have my ear to the ground a little bit on the retail side. The winter storm last year changed a lot of things. The world of electricity is highly political, and electricity generators are now being required to keep more power in reserve than before the storm. That's power that could be put out on the market to be sold. So currently we're experiencing lower supply and obviously extremely high demand with the summer heat

Recalling from decades ago at my time at Baylor in dorm room BS talking with a guy from Tennessee about electrical rates. The TVA gave his folks a very cheap electrical bill. I am trying to recall honestly but I think it was less than $25 a month.

I use Chariot, and had to renew my plan in May which was a big bummer as my rate went from 10.00 to over 16

How many months did you renew? I don't think the CEO of Exxon has any clue where the prices will be in one year or two years or three years. Right now I'm considering a flat rate .19/kWh for 36 momths. If it falls in a year I can cancel for about $200.

I just locked in 12 or 13 cents starting in July. That requires me to stay between 1000 and 2000 kwh a month for a $100 credit. I've never gone over about 1800 in the last two years so hopefully that is doable. This heat wave may screw me.

In May through October I average well over 2k kWh. This June I will probably get close to 3000 kwh damnit!

I can't help but feel energy costs will fall dramatically in 2023. Well, hoping.

I stayed with Champion, but switched to Saturdays and Sundays are free.

Energy Ogre screwed me with my recent renewal and put me in a 16.5c plan on a one year contract with a high cancellation fee. I dropped EO. cancelled the plan (ate the fee) and signed up for 3 year plan with Constellation between 14c-15c. Only a $99 cancellation fee

Oof, thats rough. Sadly $.12 is doing well right now.

Are y'all sure you are calculating your rates correctly? So many have add on fees that are disclosed as cents per kWh and impossible to figure what your rate would be.

At least in BUwolverine2012's example Constellation, to their credit, does give you a classic cost example in the terms.

I believe this needs to be corrected. You should be able to just input the kWh you used last year and get the new contract pricing. They won't do this because you can actually compare.

As an example my 24 month contract that is ending July 7 was .109/kWh but when you do the math it was as high at .168/kWh in winter months and averaged around .12/kWh when the pass through fees and taxes were added. It is the TDC or pass through charge that is importrant.

It is for 20 months I think... I was thinking energy prices might start decreasing after a year and then I'll be coming up for renewal. but who knows

I have been happy with Gexa. I even get a $100 credit each month for using my predicted amount of electricity.

13 cents / kwh, using between 1000 and 2000 a month

New power is the provider

That Gexa plan is the one I am about to come off but I was paying like 9 cents. Plan was great. Was going to renew with them but frontier beat them by half a penny. Same credit for 1000-2000 usage.

Converting all canned lights to leds helps. Sealing up doors, windows, attic vents, etc helps. Leaky chimney is like having an open window except worse since designed to draw air. Most people never check out their chimney conditions. Having a giant old live oak that shades over half my roof and walls in the afternoon helps. One 4 ton AC. 2750ft. Thermostat averages about 72 degrees. About 74 in day, 70 at night.

Too funny. Their address is exactly the same as Pulse Power. At least New Power got good ratings on Google. Pulse Power didn't have a good comment. I couldn't understand "English" Pulse Power's representative spoke so I drove up to their office in the Woodlands. It was locked with a tacky sign on the door about leaving packages.

The office looked like it hadn't been used in a year.

I backed out and stayed with my now expensive 4Change. I couldn't find any rates near .12c.

I tried to look up Gexa and my AVG spam blocker crashed it lol.
