"Unforgettable". That's one way of putting it.

He was the right man for the job at the time. High energy, larger than life, lots of fun all the time. The songs needed something to do until EVH started ripping again, and Diamond Dave made it count.

Lotsa great memories of seeing him perform both with VH and solo (I wish he and Steve Vai could have kept the team going longer). Those memories have to stay memories. It was just a particular time that can't be recreated.

Best frontman of the late 70s/early 80's? I didn't love his solo stuff, but man, those early VH albums were great.
