I've given up on finding comfortable bar stools so I'm thinking a computer chair would be a good alternative. After about 30 minutes I want to get out of most bar stools. I have seen the X Chair on line and it looks pretty good but damn is it expensive. Her computer is sitting on the kitchen countertop (36") high.

It needs to be able to extend high enough for comfort. Anyone have an idea?

My daughter has one, but can't remember the brand. She's had it for over 10 years, but she only works at home one day a week, so it hasn't had any really hard use. Her chair is upholstered, so it would look nice enough for bar stools.

I haven't looked for counter height, but look at madisonseating.com and sit4less.com.
