I selected 35 S&P 500 dividend paying stocks as a test. If I had bought 30 of them in this rising market I could have sold them the day after the dividend at profit and captured the dividend.

Risky but worth the effort to try and follow if the market continues its trajectory.

Okay my friend. I will give you a more serious response. I have always tended to focus more on stock price and potential for growth than dividends. Short-term gains are currently taxed at ordinary income and this knocks down your current short-term dividend payout/ profit.

I no longer trade individual stocks. Strictly mutual funds, bond funds, and exchange traded funds for me.

Every time I attempted the BONER method going in it became flaccid before getting out. I eventually found my niche by focusing on high interest situations which allowed me to park my stake overnight without a penalty for early withdrawal or long term commitment.
