The thread title says it all. Post a song you like. Any genre will do. I'll get us started off with a few.

This is one of my all-time favorite opening lyrics:

Well I wish I was in Austin
In the Chili Parlour bar
Drinkin' Mad Dog margaritas
And not carin' where you are

This one sends shivers down the spine. Starts at about the 1:35 mark.

Thanks for killing a good singer, Nashville.

This is far too open ended.

I am not particularly inclined to any one type of music.

I love everything from:

Texas Country (Turnpike Troubadours; Bleu Edmondson; Robert Earl) to
70s/80s classics (Journey, Chicago) to
catchy pop (Timberlake) to
garage punk (Blink 182, Angels & Airwaves) to
pop-ish techno/dance music (Tiesto; Afrojack).

It greatly depends on my mood.

That was largely the point of the thread. The songs I posted just so happened to be some songs I like that I was listening to last night. They aren't my favorite songs of all-time or anything (although Dublin Blues is probably up there for me). Just post whatever songs you have been jamming out to lately. Do people still say "jamming out"? Probably not. Oh well, y'all get the gist.

Nashville doesn't need John Anderson, they have Florida/Georgia Line!

I contend that Trashville has murdered several great artists.

Dwight Yoakam
John Anderson
Tracy Byrd
Joe Diffie
Alan Jackson
John Paycheck
Travis Tritt
Jo Dee Messina
Shania
Hank Jr

All cut down in cold blood, or used up by the machine.

Funky town thanks for posting that. I get excited to hear new music - he's got a great sound.

As for comments re Nashville... pop Nashville is bad. However, if we turn off Music Row that town is pumping out some great music. Unfortunately for most of us it is not on terrestrial radio. The internet and streaming options are making good music accessible to a wide audience. The suits are pumping to the lowest common denominator.

Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah & I'm Your Man

Keb Mo most anything at all

AC DC - You Shook Me All Night Long

John Prine - Lake Marie and .......
* In Spite of Ourselves is most unusual song I've maybe ever heard

I saw him in concert the other night. I was blown away. He sang Folsom Prison Blues during his set. My jaw dropped.

John Prine is an outstanding songwriter, a fantastic poet .... from the unusual and strange (a whole bunch fit here) to clever (Spanish Pipedream) to one of the best songs ever... Angel From Montgomery!

This song was not a hit but I loved it. A different side of the Doobies with Tiran Porter lamenting about his good friend and former lead singer Tom Johnston's drug and alcohol addiction. It may have been Tiran's only credited song, but not sure.
