For what it's worth, I checked into the Hurt's Donuts deal because I think one would do fantastic in Waco near campus and found out that someone has already franchised it and will be opening one up here in the near future.

So there ya go. I have no idea who, when, or where.

Nothing compares to Round Rock donuts.

I don't like them either. Might as well go buy a birthday cake and cover it in crushed candy pieces. But there seems to be a market for it.

The original in Springfield, MO is always busy as is the 2nd location. The franchise in Joplin, MO is slammed.

The Apple fritters are huge, crisp, and a great value.

Most everything else is what you said. Cake with thick icing and chopped up candy.

If you want a good apple fritter, Shipley's has the best damn apple fritter I have had. Due to feeling guilty I have have only ordered 2 in my life and both times shared it and didn't eat my share all in one sitting. The things are huge as well I might add. I really don't go to Shipley's or any other donut place that much to be honest, but damn those are good.

I had a piece of a donut from a Hurts in DFW I think. They are a bit extreme. They remind me of the donut version of the burgers at that burger place in Vegas called Heart Attack I have seen reports about.
