According to USA Today. Dine Equity --the parent company --isn't doing so well. Apparently it is Applebee's that is bringing them down. Hopefully the old mid 70s IHOP by campus isn't one of them on the chopping block.

Not that I go to either very much at all but why good?

I personally don't want to see anything close in Waco. Again hopefully neither of the IHOPs in Waco or the Applebee's in Waco are in danger.

I thought the campus IHOP was due to be taken out in the I-35 expansion.

They've been saying that IHOP is going to close for at least 10 years. Does anyone know how long the lease is?
Noooo evidence for that, babeeyyy, just maaade it up.

I think that IHOP is pretty cool actually. Very retro--except the signage. Never remodeled and updated which is what franchises are required to do. Still in its mid 70s state. I do unfortunately think Baylor plans to take it down when the lease expires. As to 35 expansion. I cant figure that out. Some things are going down due to expansion and it would seem if the expansion is going to be by an equal width throughout the county, it would take that IHOP.but maybe some of the expansion will be an Austin style double deck. Who knows.

because every time someone eats at one of those places they get fatter and much more unhealthy. and likely dumber.

To be honest restaurant food anywhere is probably not as healthy as what you can eat at home unless it is specifically a health food restaurant.

Applebee's is crapola. It's a small victory for mankind that consumers actually have rejected a turd of a chain.

IHOPs vary quite a bit. Some are dumpsters, some are good, clean places to get pancakes and omelettes, a sammich or two. The one here started serving hipster salads, though, with bitter weeds instead of real lettuce, even though they still have real lettuce they use on sammiches. They refuse to serve it in salad form, which is stupid.

Last time I was at IHOP was in Hillsboro after the 2015 OU loss. To me, IHOP = Applebee's = Subway. Good enough to eat if you have no other options, but I never choose them because there are so many other better choices.

The Applebee's in Waco opened in early fall of 94. I have lived in Waco since before that. I have been to Applebee's 5 maybe 6 times and that is the only one I have been to. The last time I went was around 2001. I actually remember it being pretty good but remember it being pricier than say CHILIS which is a similar type chain. Also the location became more inconvenient as time went on for us personally as we moved to Woodway etc. and ait more competition has come in since then. It must be doing well though. Still open after 23 years. The only other major chains off the top of my head still here that have been here longer are El Chico, Chili's, and Red Lobster.

IHOP I view as similar to fast food. It's one of those places we don't eat at unless we are traveling. ( Well let me correct that it is usually at midnight after a concert we have been to in another city). When we travel we prefer Cracker Barrell if it's breakfast on the road. Hence we rarely stop by the Waco IHOP.

My four year old loves Applebee's. I'm so glad the one by us closed so she doesn't ask to go anymore when we drive by.

And how is it that every single IHOP has the worst service ever? I actually think it's got to be a competency (incompetency?) that they interview for.

I remember that IHOP was covered in crickets during my freshman year (07-08). It didn't bother us at all, but rather added to its unique charm.

Joe's Crab Shack closed 41 locations today.

Another one bites the dust.

So I guess a Joe's Crab Shack won't be entering the Waco market anytime soon.

Last time I went to Joe's I got a crab salad that had more crab shell than crab meat in it.
