Recently drank a '23 Morgon Cote du Py from Jean Foillard that was awesome... but looked it up and it came in at $51

But you can find some Gamay from Alex Foillard in the $35-40 range that is outstanding. Good Beaujolais has complex red fruit that is giving and not as tannic or earthy as their pinot neighbors in Burgundy and just as good with food.

Drank a Stolpman 2019 Hilltops Syrah earlier this week that really was a nice wine, especially on day 2. I'm pretty sure it is less than $40. iodine and black pepper at first and more air unleashes a nice sweet red fruit profile. easy tannins and good acidity.

If you like Italian whites at all I highly encourage you to check out offerings from Friuli region (NE area of Italy up against Slovenia and Austria). Drank a Malvasia for $33 from a quality producer Doro Princic. I don't know how common these are, but definitely lots of Malvasia, Friulano, Ribollo Gialla and Sauv. Blanc from this area. Make some cool orange wines in this area, too, using these grapes and pinot grigio. Fun stuff and outside of a few very famous producers the wines aren't expensive.

For domestic you can drink quality chard from Liquid Farm, their La Hermosa or Chalk Hill offerings are around $40 and provide lovely expressions of high acidity, sweet lemon fruit and a salty kiss. no oak notes.
