Any bourbon drinkers out there?

I've been drinking bourbon for a while but never really got serious about it until 2020 gave me a bunch of free time. Mostly drinking EHT BP, ECBP, Rebel Yell 10, HM 10 and OWA right now.

Just got my hands on a Weller 12 1.75L but haven't cracked it open yet.

If you're gonna drink corn liquor, Makers Mark is good for me.

I'm a Bearbacker

Just traded a 2020 GTS for a EH Taylor Barrel Proof, Elmer T Lee and Rebel Yell 10.

Merry Christmas to me!

EHT is a helluva buy when you can find it.

If you're interested in checking out a new, readily available and affordable high proof bourbon, get your hands on the Blue Note 10 year Barrel Proof (should be $60-$70).

A store in Dallas had a sample that I liked so I took the plunge. IMHO, it's an incredible value at that price.

It's on the short list of sub-$100 bourbons that I like and can always find.

I just don't dig the barrel proof 122+ stuff out there. I think my line is somewhere in that 110-112 range based on what I've had to date.

The high-quality barrel proofs that I've had (William Larue Weller, George T. Stagg, EH Taylor, Stagg Jr.) are pretty much my all-time favorites. I add some water occasionally to smooth them out but usually drink them neat.

Ones like Elijah Crag or Jack Daniels SBBP not so much but they're not bad.

Which barrel proofs have you tried that you didn't like?

Jack, EC, and a Taylor. I think a Booker also

Just nuked my palate

Well, two thumbs up for trying a few of them. I think the Jack and EC are OK but some people just love those.

The Stagg Jr is the best value I've ever had (assuming $100-$125 price).

I'd gladly pay $125 for a bottle of Stagg Jr if I could find it

Jim Beam does the same job for a much lower wage. Some of you are economically ******ed.

You're equating Jim Beam with Stagg Jr? Bless your heart if they taste the same to you.

Opinions will always vary on whether any particular bottle is worth a certain price but let's not act like mass-produced swill is the same thing as a quality bourbon.

Total Wine in Dallas had Weller 107 for $56 on the shelf today. Never thought I'd get it at that price.

Gotdam 1 bottle limit though.

Oak Lawn. Pretty sure they're already gone though. They only had 2 left.

Did two separate trades in Waco on Friday to get all these (trading partners were both from Austin). Gave up a 2020 George T Stagg, EH Taylor Barrel Proof batch 9, 2019 William Larue Weller and a Elijah Craig Barrel Proof C920.

I don't like ECBP so I'm glad that was included (but I love ECTB, go figure). Never had an OWA or ER store pick so I wanted to check those out.

I was obviously looking to trade down to get a good number of bottles. I figured it was pretty even dollar-wise.

P.S. I got 5 Stagg Juniors. The second batch 14 is right behind the first.

These are some interesting ones I picked up today (at retail for a change) but I'm not sharing haha.

You get anything good lately?

The Blue Note barrel proof is great - especially at $65 or so. The small batch tastes extremely watered down and was disappointing.

They have something called Juke Joint which I haven't tried or researched but that is their low-end product. If the $60 small batch is not good, I'll pass on the $25 bottom-shelf item.

Blue Note may be a bad fit for you if you don't like barrel proofs.

Never had the OE7 BS but that will change soon.

What are you sipping this weekend?

Finding a sweat-free Gary Patterson in August is easier than finding this at retail in North Texas.

Nice. Just had an ER10 SP which is light years ahead of the last ER bottle I had.

You in Waco? Ever been to Barnett's? Crazy how Waco has one of the best whiskey bars in Texas.
