I had no idea my Lobos would be at the top of the list! Go Lobos!

I graduated in 1967 and we weren't very good during that time. Our district was Texarkana, Marshall, Longview, Lufkin, Tyler Lee and John Tyler. Lufkin usually won baseball, Marshall or Tyler Lee often won basketball and Texarkana, coached by a legendary coach named Watty Myers, was the power in football.

We did produce two pretty good quarterbacks. James Street (1966) wound up quarterbacking UT to a national championship and Steve Judy (1968) was TCU's quarterback for several years.

Of course, the best high school football team in Longview was Mary C. Womack HS, the all black school. I can only imagine the quality of athletes who played for that school. We played at the same stadium, with Womack playing on Thursday nights and LHS on Friday nights.
