Some SEC teams end the year below 0.500 & are not bowl eligible. It happens every year, especially to teams in the east division like SC, Vandy, & Kentucky.

You may not know, but Kentucky has been to bowls the last 6 years in a row including 2 Citrus Bowls.

.....and the last time they beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa was 1922. The last decade has been their zenith, with the exception of 1976 when their only loss of the season was to Baylor University.

Well, not quite. Their zenith was when they had a coach named Paul Bryant, AKA Bear. He had the Wildcats rolling from 1946-1953.

BTW, it was 1977 when Baylor beat a probation laden Kentucky team

I was not aware of that. I do know they had 1-2 good years recently but I remember a few years ago how they were terrible a few years in a row.

The Rich Brooks Kentucky teams were pretty good. Consistent Bowl team. A very good year with Andre Woodson at the helm. The classic 2007 4OT game vs Tennessee with 13 passing touchdowns between Woodson and Ainge. Fulmer held on via a 2pt conversion stop and would get one more year as the Great Pumpkin.
