With all of this going down with the Big 10 what is the SEC's next move?

Is it Clemson and FSU or could they make a run at the Big 12 or even PAC 12?

You have to think they are not just sitting back on this.

Their mission should be to raid the ACC until it's no longer a viable conference. Absorb UNC and Duke to stake your claim as the best basketball conference in the country. Take on Miami and Florida State to completely own one of the nation's most fertile recruiting states. Pull in Clemson for a phenomenal built-in in-state rivalry and to make the SEC East just as scary as the West.

That would essentially give them 100% of the market share in the Carolinas and Florida. And they can absolutely do it.

The best part for them is the schools they want are all smack in their geographic footprint. The ACC is to the SEC what the Pac-12 is to the Big 10 right now.

Agreed.

Florida State and Clemson, North Carolina and Duke.

Close.

Clemson, FSU, Miami and UNC -- all 4 who have shown they are willing to play in the NIL pool.

UNC is in no shape, form or fashion tied to Duke and the SEC has no use for Duke. Georgia Tech would have the insider pull to get in the SEC before Duke would ever get a sniff.

I would say both of those conclusions would be misreads. The SEC cares a lot about basketball and has invested, as a conference, significant resources behind it in the last 5 years. And in any case, MBB is a money sport, they would be stupid not to care about it, especially where the two biggest name brands in CBB are concerned.

Teams earn their conferences a lot of money by making NCAA tourney runs. The overwhelming majority of money the NCAA makes and distributes to conferences comes from March Madness. A Final Four appearance is worth $8 million to a conference. In other words, UNC and Duke made the ACC $16 million in one night this year. The SEC would be stupid to ignore that if they have the possibility to add both.

Virginia and UNC to the B1G. Pitt, Duke, ND and Miami to the XII. FSU and Clemson to the SEC.

It is ALL about football and delivering markets. period. end of discussion. We learned that the last go round with Kansas. Though they are excellent in basketball, the Jayhawks were not wanted-- anywhere.

Hoops is nice and all, but UNC rings the SEC and B1G bell. Duke does not. Duke is actually a better fit for Big East b/c of basketball. Wake Forest, too.

If the SEC wants Clemson, FSU and prolly UNC and Miami, they got them. IF that happens, look for UVA and Syracuse to go to B1G quickly.

That actually may be good for the Big12: NC State, VaTech, Pitt and Louisville are pretty good.
