Back when this site began I paid and joined the premium board. After a couple years I decided it just wasn't worth it. A few months ago they offered a short term special. I decided I would test the water again to check the newsworthness. But they would not allow it because I had been a member previously. The mods/ owners need to backtrack on that but I doubt they would.
Kind of my experience as well. I don't care to follow recruiting that carefully, which is what most of the premium stuff seemed to be.

'decentex is good people, however, so I think I'll follow his advice on this one.

I tried it during some promotional period a couple of years ago. My impression was anything I really wanted to know about would likely migrate to we poors in short order. Don't feel the need to participate in the very latest speculations anymore.
fair enough, we just ask people to give it a try. Since you tried it a few years ago, we've added a lot of contributors to our team.

Grayson Grundhoefer does a great job covering football recruiting with Garrett Ross, Colt Barber and Brian Ethridge and also filling in on basketball which I cover. Brian Ethridge on WBB.

Travis Roeder and Kendall Kaut were big pick-ups for analysis with football and basketball. They bring a ton of great articles weekly.

During football season, S11, Football Bob, JJ Joe give lots of key insights. I know a lot more about the game after reading their articles in addition to Travis. Jason King contributes from time to time on basketball.

If you are a casual fan, you might be able to take it or leave it. But if you are a hardcore fan, I think you will get a lot of value out of premium. I had a guy from one of the top SEC sites that has 10x the subscribers subcribe to premium and hit me up and said "your content is as good as there is on the market".

If you do Athlete+ and premium, you are also going to get interviews directly with the athletes which is access you wouldn't be able to get from free info.

https://sicem365.com/plus

Jason and our Sicem365 radio crew do a great job with "free" content and we are grateful if you just consume that. It's a virtuous flywheel. Of course, we are going to be pro Baylor and maintain great relationships with Baylor administration. We need to be on good terms with them and in this world of NIL, they need us to. You will probably get more "objective" (there is no such thing as a brute fact) journalism from our Sicem365 radio crew (none of which attended Baylor). But you just need to know that going in.

We give a lot of insider notes on premium on the football, basketball, baseball teams, etc... So to get that access, we have to protect the hand that feeds.

Appreciate the response. Just get so tired of too many stinking subscriptions, in general, though I understand the economics. Ended up adding Hulu + last year basically to get ESPN+ so I could watch WBB. Big fan of the team formerly known as the Lady Bears. Also have BritBox, Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Tidal Hifi, besides fighting the never ending battles with internet service and/or cable/streaming providers. Just switched from Uverse to Spectrum to keep costs from increasing. My current energy plan expires in August and to renew will cost at least 35% more. Just got through protesting my property taxes with Dallas County. Yeah, old man yelling at clouds here... Sic'em.
I emphathize. I suggest you make Sicem365 the priority. It is a beating keeping track of these subscriptions. I get that.

do you not realize that YOU are the stereotype your "grad school buddies" were talking about.

you're doing the exact thing you're accusing others of. you complain about them talking down to others then you proceed to talk down to the entire group by calling them "mids," then you to try to boost your own ego by casually mentioning that you went to grad school (congrats, so did nearly everyone else).

a normal person would say "my buddies who went to other schools" because everyone has friends who went to other schools. plus i'd assume that, among the friends/acquaintances you know who attended other schools, you met the majority of them somewhere other than grad school.
So you and your full grown adult buddies from other schools talk about college kid stereotypes?

And you think going to grad school is impressive?

I can see why you would think this is all the same thing.
no, i made it blatantly clear that going to grad school isn't impressive.

if you're a grown adult going around calling people "mids," i'd assume that you're the type who would probably talk about college stereotypes. you're doing it right here on a message board.

i understand the point you're trying to get at in the original post. i think there are bits of truth in it. i just think the way in which you expressed it served as a confirmation of that stereotype.

I didn't go to grad school.
Does that make me sub-optimal?

PS Undergraduate school (four-year degree) was good enough for me.
i'd say that it's probably wiser to go to trade school these days than it is to go to grad school. so, no.

i went to grad school. Twice. If I crank out a thesis, I'd have a Ph.d. That's in addition to an undergrad program that put me at 140 hours for just a bachelor's degree.

I share that because IMO it was a huge waste of time. I could have done two years post high school and then an intense 18 month post undergrad and been just fine. My money is earned on things you can find in a book that is sold on Amazon for like $40.

My advice to any kid that will listen is...travel. And learn some tech skills.
my point had nothing to do with the value of attending grad school. you may notice, though, that there's a large contingent of people with advanced degrees who DO see 4-year grads as suboptimal.

that was my point.

There certainly is some comparison between our behaviors. It's apparent. They were judgmental of everyone they viewed as being outside of their tribe, and I'm judging them for being nowhere nearly as impressive as they think they are and a-holes to boot. If you're saying I'm also a judgmental a-hole, fair enough. I'd rather hang out with the rabble than the ones putting on airs. And that is where my snobbery comes in ... the real badasses don't act that way.

Fair enough. I'll leave that assessment to others. The thing I work on is sorta specific. So the grad school thing was a necessity. It was still wasteful as ***** If I give it any one redeeming thing, I know how to navigate university bulls--- like no other. Administrators fear me, mauahaha! I can speak directly to the corruption that is poisoning young minds and creating a monstrosity of debt. For those interested in my views, send me a DM, and for the price of a few drinks I'll share my hard earned guidance.

But let it be known, that at no time did I undertake education, be that enrolling in graduate courses or buying a book from Amazon, for the purposes of being 'smart' or 'elitist,' or 'snooty.' Smart sucks. It's pointless and it won't get you girls. Rich, on the other hand is nice. I'm not there yet, but I've tasted it and I intend to keep cutting throats until the magic of compound interests anoints me ruler over all.*

i've come around to your side, TBH. i picked up a premium subscription after reading OPs post. yes, there was information. detailed information with absolute statements that didn't make sense to me because NO ONE else was reporting info anywhere near what they were reporting.

i questioned those specific scenarios/absolute statements and got absolutely flamed for it. they called me a troll, a Cal fan, a Tech fan, etc. one of the ones providing the info tried to bet me 1k that X would happen in 3 months. the board said "you're new here and you come in with that attitude?"

fast forward 1 week and that same person is posting that X scenario might not happen until the end of the year (if at all). and of course, the goalposts keep moving. it's a self-aggrandizing echo chamber and anyone who questions the daily narrative is wrong.

you can go back to last year and see the same people reporting info (this isn't SicEm staff FWIW) that was dead wrong re: realignment (info that hasn't been even remotely reported by anyone else since. not one source has confirmed certain alleged 2021 "executive level discussions").

after 2 weeks of premium, i now understand what you were talking about. i'll let my subscription expire at the end of the month and move on.

I looked at your posts. You contributed to the site & I enjoyed your early posts. However, you posed as a new poster and proceeded to post 40 times in 2 days.
You did question specific scenarios and you were received politely. You made absolute statements and your statements were questioned.
Then you flamed some old timers and one called you bluff. You got huffy and flamed more.

Now you have your feelings hurt.

Let me see if I get the value proposition straight.

For the price of a monthly subscription, there is an elite group of insiders that share private information about Baylor sports.

And that information is only known to these privileged, insiders who only share it with paid subscribers.

Is that the pitch here?

two other things

1) super secret handshake. This comes in handy at tailgates and such so the paid member knows not to divulge information to a poor.
2) double-secret probation. This is used against paid members who converse with poors 50.01% or more of their post. If this continues to occur after double-secret probation, their spell-check will be turned off.
As a warning to all, Waco1947 had this occur to him. At times his post are practically unintelligible.

I think you are trying to be funny but here is why it is really good.

There is great analysis, schemes, breakdowns of the opponents, players to watch, personal stories about players and coaches and some inside information sometimes. It is more than just way recruiting and private information.
Ashley Hodge

appreciate the constructive feedback bakersdozen. Some that subscribe to premium have an ignore list for that reason. If a poster or 20 is annoying, you can hit ignore and not see their posts.

I have no idea where all the free board versus premium rift started- maybe with the Briles stuff but I don't perceive many issues today

85% of our subscribers never post. The 15% that do usually have strong opinions that can be too pessimistic or optimistic at times

The message boards would be pretty boring if no one posted. Part of the appeal is that there is a wide variety of content and information, a lot of it user generated.

In this new world of NIL, we need Baylor fans rowing together or we will have a lot more to complain about in the future. By the end of this year, Sicem365 will have distributed around $290,000 to Baylor athletes in NIL deals. We take extremely low overhead on the content to make sure most of that goes directly to the athletes.

80% of gym memberships attend probably 3-4 times a year, seems a similar comparison.

Thanks to Ashley Hodge for the comments and for the constructive appreciation for us who have chosen not to be part of Premium.

But I've said it before and I'm saying it again. I would be willing to make donations if there simply were a DONATE button on the home page (or similar spot). That could include options like 1: Donate to the site; and 2) Donate to aid NIL.

As a regular poster, I sincerely hope that my blend of comments, attempts at humor, and use of images helps attract eyeballs which generate revenue. Plus my occasional descent into deliberate imbecility.

I'm really looking forward to Sic'Em's tailgate at the BYU game, since I live in Utah, and work in Provo not far from the stadium. My fellow Baylor grad son and I will be there.

Has this all been run by the General Counsel's office? I don't think NIL is the complete and total legalization of what SMU was doing in the 80s. I think there are still some regs about it. I thought the players do have to do some kind of token work like pose for a picture for an ad of one's business for example. Perhaps the regulations in Texas ended up not passing and hence there are no rules in Texas. I don't know for sure.

I'm on the Premium board (for now). The problem is that most of the content is free to anyone...Youtube Channel, Podcasts, Sicem Radio. Don't forget Twitter. Usually, the staff post breaking news on Twitter either right after they post, or sometimes before they post. Travis is the main reason to stay on Premium though. His writing and breakdowns are great. Just don't like seeing him doing more Podcasts/Radio sessions. A few posters do have insider information, more so than the staff, it seems sometimes. The conference realignment insiders have been great though.
