Losing our secondary playmakers can hurt us. if BYU OL can keep pressure off their qb they will probably make some connections with the deep ball and score a lot. That said, our offense will light up their defense.
I absolutely agree with parkers take on the unique early schedule this year. He was spot on. We are never tested in the first three games. Getting byu for game 2 in provo will be a great test. This squad has a lot to overcome on defense, but if our linebackers start making plays and tipping passes then lookout. However we had zero interceptions in week one. Not good imho. Albany was a good first week warm up and exposed some weakness in our secondary with passes over 15 yards.
Absolutely expect if these boys can overcome the loud ruckus and altitude we will score over 40. But i think mid to high 30s is far more likely. If byu starts to get into our backfield and pressure blake on every drive we will have a hell of a mountain to climb.
All that said, cant wait to watch. I think we have a stout team on both sides for the first time in my lifetime and we will see some special teams magic that demoralizes the cougars.
Baylor will win this game decisively by the end of q4, but it may take 2 or 3 quarters to grit through it. At the end of the day this will be a feather in the cap and will provide evidence of baylor deserving a top 10 ranking.
