Blackout McLane
How long do you want to ignore this user?
As a student and after years of disappointment in the promotion of games. A group of friends and I have started to spread the word of blacking out the stadium vs Kansas State. I know this is difficult to reach and probably will fail, but due to Baylor not promoting anything but ticket sales, we feel as if this is our only chance to get some people involved. With colder weather moving in, it will be easy for people to find some black coat or bring one from their closet. Just doing our job to bring the energy back to the Banks on the Brazos.

Unfortunately a "Black Out" will never happen without the team wearing all black and Baylor officially promoting the game as a ""Black Out".

A+ for effort though.

So what will the colors be---I sure hope it is not those HORRIBLE yellow uniforms. White pants, green jerseys and white helmets for me.

Works for me. Maybe Chris Klieman will have a tough time coaching hard against a team that looks like his previous squad.

Appreciate the effort. The blackout game against OU in 2013 was one of the best home game atmospheres I can remember.

Are there some BU student social media groups you all can get on to spread the word?

If I do not hear from Baylor, I will wear green and gold.

Yeah you'd reach more marching outside Park Cities Baptist.

The majority of our crowd is older and comes from all areas of Texas...many of which aren't on this forum..or have Twitter or any social media.

Our fan base is so lucky to have athletic programs like we have.

It's amazing how often Baylor fans whine about the stupidest things (colors of uniforms, expectations of fans, etc), & then complain about lack of respect. They will mock Aggies & almost every other fan base but won't demonstrate simple fan enthusiasm at games themselves.

Considering the position the team is in & the opportunities ahead of us, one would think McLane would already be sold out & everyone would jump at the chance for a blackout.

The fans can provide lots of energy for the team to feed off of but too many act as if they don't care if we play in Arlington or not. Do we as fans want to be back to back Big 12 champions again? Then we should show it!

Baylor has a long history of poorly supporting athletics, both as a university and as fans. University support, including donors has improved significantly. Athletics achievement has improved significantly. Fan support has not kept up.

True. The most visible sign of support ard all the new facilities from the past few years. Certainly plenty of fans contributed to the construction of McLane, the Nutrition Center, Foster Pavillion, etc but not enough show up to games. It's sometimes embarrassing to see the games on TV with so many empty seats.

Looks like it's going to be chilly on Saturday, I have way more black jackets than gold jackets.

Nothing says support your team like wearing another teams colors. Texas Tech, Vandy, Idaho State, Purdue, Iowa, Wichita state, Missouri, Army. Appalachan State, Wake Forest, Cincinnati, OSU..

Why? Go to the game, wear your teams colors and be loud.

Every school has various kinds of promotionals. Why should Baylor be any different?

For anyone opposed to the idea of a blackout, watch the 2013 OU game & try to argue that the atmosphere wasn't amazing. Granted that was the first & best blackout but it makes the point. That Thursday night game proves how effective a blackout can be.

Saturday night it doesn't matter what color your shirt is, only the color of your jacket. High to mid 40's with a 7-10 mph breeze will feel pretty chilly after an hour in it.

Yes it was. Mainly for the insane offensive stats:

56-14 at half time with 600 yards of offense
Baylor finished 73-42 with backups playing much of the second half & almost 900 yards of offense

Genuinely curious - any suggestions on changes to make for better promotion? I've seen the blackout_mclane twitter posts, but I've also seen bufootball, baylor_athletcis, players, coaches, and fans on Twitter, Instagram, emails, etc. all talking about the upcoming game. When we're looking at "not promoting" the games, where's the disconnect between the published media and where people are looking?

@Blackout Mclane, how's campus? Is the student body catching on to the idea of a blackout?

If so, us alum should support the current students and blackout with them!

My family will show up with black, green, and gold and dress accordingly with the students.

I just thought of something: if you where dark green it will almost be the same as black. At least it will look like black on TV for a night game.

I have seen references to this on social media but I do not understand the issue. The university is opposed to a black out or the students just decided to do one and the university didnt have time to organize an official one?

We do not have black unis anyway. But more power to anyone who wants to wear black. Our night time black outs back in the day were very cool.

The Baylor administration believes a blackout is too reminiscent of the Briles era. Students could not care less and want it to be hype

If your first sentence is true, that is just assinine. We are on our 7th season post Briles being on the sideline. There have been almost as many post Briles seasons as there were Briles seasons.

I thought even Rhule had the team wear all black at times. I dont remember those being actual "black out" games however.
