So are you prejudiced against 5'8" quarterbacks? You do know that the Cowboys first QB was under 5'8".

We are not gonna get a DJ or Spencer Sanders or anyone like that from the portal. Those guys are looking for spots where they are GUARANTEED to be the starter and focal point. Anyone looking at us is gonna see that we are returning our starter, and his coach stayed true to him all year. So why should they risk coming here and potentially not starting? That's why you will see DJ at whichever MWC guarantees him he'll start. It will be the same for Sanders.
NOTE: Reed withdrew from the portal last week and recommitted to WKU. But I agree. He would have been a great pickup.

Malik Hornsby fits that mold I would think.
This is the guy I think fits the mold AND we can afford.Wacoraisedbear said:

Malik Hornsby?? Did you see him play at Ark this year?? That's ridiculous. Give me Hudson Card. He was the #2 rated dual threat QB in his class behind Bryce Young. Needs a fresh start.

As mentioned already, the top names (Card, DJ, Sanders) are looking for an immediate starter role or as close to it as possible. Knowing this staff, there's a very good chance there's a QB battle in the spring, which is not optimal.
Grayson McCall (Coastal Carolina) and Luke Altmeyer (Ole Mis) could be decent targets, but it'll be a fight with some SEC schools to win them over. I would've loved to see Brennan Armstrong here, but this season for him was brutal.

Yep, nobody with any ability is going to do that. They would just shake their head and move along.robby44 said:
Whoever they get will need to know they're going to be the starter because i can't see any capable guy coming in to sit behind Shapen

He's a baller and a gamer. He doesn't quit. And Sanders doesn't slide when he shouldn't.No Quarterback said:I don't particularly like Spencer Sanders as a quarterback, but his arm is a lot better than Shapen'sBearlyBeloved said:

Personally, Aranda and Grimes should offer Card or Sanders the starting slot and tell Shapen he's #2 based on the season. He'll have to beat out the #1 thru the spring and the fall. No straight shot to that starting slot until #1 fails to deliver this next season.
